Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
2 September 2013
Summary: In 2003, Capcom tried its hand with an online co-op game set in the Resident Evil universe. While it performed fairly decently at retail, there's little doubt that Outbreak suffered due to the fact that PlayStation 2 owners weren't quite as online-ready as we are this generation. As a result, the game is far from Resident Evil 's most popular entry.
Excerpt: Ever since Capcom made the change to the shooter first style of Resident Evil, I've always wondered what it would have been like to be in Raccoon city at the time of the outbreak. As if reading my mind, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon city was released. I was ecstatic to jump into the environment. Of course, I was going to judge this thing to death on storyline accuracy, so lets start with that.

The game is set around the same time of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
Summary: Capcom treats us to another dramatic shift from traditional Resident Evil gameplay with Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Playing as Umbrella operatives killing zombies and soldiers alike, the game is a pretty solid zombie romp.
Pros: Nostalgia abounds as you slaughter lickers, tyrants and more, Astoundingly good multiplayer will keep you busy, Fun to play from the Umbrella Corporation's perspective
Cons: Awkward button mapping hinders smooth gameplay, Campaign gets off to a slow lumbering start, No splitscreen seems like an anachronism these days
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Review - PS3

Conclusion: Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City fails to carry forward the LEGACY of popular Resident Evil franchise. The game lacks puzzle, intensity and scary elements that the series is known for. Operation Raccoon City definitely features fun to play multiplayer and campaign mode, but this not exactly what Resident Evil franchise fans wanted from a full blown multiplayer Resident Evil game.

Excerpt: In order to help fill the void until the release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom has taken the interesting choice of allowing a different developer to make use of the brand to create a game that is very different to both the most recent iterations and the well loved older games. Operation Raccoon City plays and feels like something more akin to Gears of War than Resident Evil, which can be a bit of a double-edged sword.
