Conclusion: Capcom continues to thumb its nose at long time series fans. Not only have they abandoned any pretense of tension and fear, they've dredged up tired old storylines and shifted the game solidly into Gears of War territory. Let the series die!
Conclusion: Resident Evil 6 is a conflicted game that offers a fun but flawed core experience punctuated by some outstanding moments of action and suspense, along with a host of questionable design choices that often hobble what can be (and often is) an otherwise enjoyable game. It’s a flawed game that is certainly not without its obvious downfalls, but it’s also an ambitious and sprawling product, one that offers you a lot to chew on between its awesomely rank monsters, tense mood,...
Conclusion: The Resident Evil (RE) series has come a long way since its modest roots as a zombie survival horror game in the 90s, where it was ahead of its time and amassed a large following of gamers despite its blocky controls.
Pros: High production values, Co-op gameplay can be fun
Cons: Frustrating controls and camera, Endless boss fights, Tiresome QTEs
Summary: After the great things that Resident Evil 4 and 5 did for the franchise, Resident Evil 6 feels like the biggest misstep that they could have made. It completely changes the core gameplay that made the series so great, and instead goes for something that resembles their idea of Uncharted or an over the top action experience. Unfortunately, this means that the rest of the game suffered, leaving a broken shell of a game.
Pros: The gunplay and coop are still extremely solid., Large returning cast of characters from the previous games, though there are a few notable exceptions missing., Mercenaries mode is back and is still extremely fun.
Cons: Poor camera and melee combat makes fighting multiple enemies difficult., The plotting of the story doesn't belong in a RE game., Agent Hunt and 4-player coop are cool ideas, but aren't fleshed out., The menus are way too deep and confusing.
Pros: Leon's campaign is excellent, down to roots Resident Evil., Graphics, particularly lighting and shadows are stellar., Four campaigns to play through in total., Ustanak is awesome, frightening, and unstoppable., Drop in co-op for up to four players at times.
Cons: Almost too much content, diluting the experience., I wish there was only Leon's campaign, with more content., Convoluted story that isn't explained well., New C-virus enemies are worst in series., Over reliance on Quick Time Events for even the most menial tasks., Almost zero exploration or puzzles., Focus, Capcom. Focus. Give fans Resident Evil, not Call of Duty.
