Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
6 July 2009
  • Excerpt: Rag Doll Kung Fu is a downloadable game combining the customs of classic martial art cinema with realistic physics and Super Smash Bros.-style multiplayer action. An interesting take on sixaxis motion control and detailed visuals highlight the wacky kung fu antics. Sadly, the game falls short of its lofty goals, with the end result being a title with a solid foundation that fails to deliver on the content side of things.

  • Pros: Letting loose and goofing around if you have a younger gamer in your life.
  • Cons: A match starts and no one can locate their character. It’s a bad sign when the first move in battle is asking aloud, “Where am I?”

  • Summary: Wouldn't it be cool if your fully posable martial arts action figures could come to life and clobber each other? This is the core concept of Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, which demonstrates that the answer to that question is an emphatic maybe. The game is an aesthetic delight that vividly creates the illusion of possessed plastic figurines with elastic strings in their limbs leaping through the air, punching, kicking, and tossing each other around with gusto.
  • Pros: Terrific visuals, Interesting variety of single-player challenges
  • Cons: Shallow, disappointing combat, No online multiplayer

Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic Review

GamingTrend

  • Excerpt: When I was offered the task of reviewing for the Playstation Network, my first thought wasn’t to the 2004 release of Rag Doll Kung Fu on the PC; instead I had thought back to the fun I had with the original Xbox Kung-Fu Chaos. With up to four players beating on each other mercilessly, special chi moves and a campy game setting, it had all the trappings of a successor to the over-the-top Kung-Fu genre. So the 10 dollar question is: is it good enough to steal your peach?

Ragdoll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic - Test

Eurogamer
3 April 2009
  • Summary: Bei Ragdoll Kung Fu tanzt mein kleines schwarzes Herz Capoeira, denn dank Angeber-Funktion darf ich Gegner sogar mit albernen Bruce-Lee-Gedächtnis-Posings verhöhnen und Extra-Punkte einheimsen! Der fehlende Online-Modus und der Solopart – weil dünner als Herr Lagerfeld – trüben allerdings den Langzeitspaß. Mir hat ein Motivationstrick geholfen: einfach im Kampf an die Ex denken.
