Excerpt: If SSX and ATV Offroad Fury fell in love, got married, and had a child, their offspring would be Disney Interactive and Black Rock Studio's PURE . This off-road, all-terrain vehicle racer mixes high-speed racing with over-the-top stunts. It's not an original concept for a game by any means, but it is very clear that the game's purpose is not innovation, but the three-letter word all games aspire to be: fun.
Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is When I had the chance to try out the eagerly awaited MotorStorm 2 on the PS3, I had a ridiculous amount of fun with it, and thought that I would probably never get to play a racing game that was so enjoyable. Well, after playing Pure on the PS3, I’m prepared to eat my words – published by Disney Interactive (yes, you read that correctly), I half-expected to see players racing around a track with voiceovers by Sebastian the crab.
Excerpt: When Disney released Pure, I didn't know exactly what to expect. I heard of the title but didn't really have a true interest in it. Also when I found out it was an off road racer, I had my doubts, after the tedium that was Motorstorm. That changed when I put the game into my Xbox 360 and was surprised to see a very good arcade style ATV racer with a strange sense of familiarity.
Excerpt: When I first laid my eyes on Pure, I was a bit skeptical. I thought the idea of newly formed Disney Interactive making a hit was rather slim. Then we come to find out that the developer behind Pure would be the very same developer behind MotoGP (Xbox version) and ATV Offroad Fury 3...albeit with a new name, Black Rock Studio. To my further surprise, when I first played Pure at E3, I was completely blown away.
Excerpt: Previously known as Climax Studios, Blackrock Studios gave rise to some memorable dirt-laced titles, including installments of the popular ATV Offroad Fury series for the PlayStation 2. Needless to say, these guys know dirt bikes. Since then, the team's experienced a name change, joined the house of mouse, and made the intrepid leap to the next-gen with the rumbling motor of the ATV still driving their inspiration.
Conclusion: Pure was a really big surprise. At first we were blown away by how well everything came together from a brand new studio. We then learnt who Black Rock Studio was, everything started to make sense. If you enjoy fast racers, insane action and wild stunts, Pure will not disappoint. Project COE highly recommends this excellent racer to anyone and everyone out there. Don’t miss it!
