Franchise needs a reboot

Navix, Amazon
29 March 2014
  • Summary: I played about 3/4 of this game before I decided to stop forcing myself to finish it. Before this game I have played Sands of Time, Warrior Within, Two Thrones, and Forgotten Sands Wii. All of them were enjoyable (mostly the first 3) so I decided to get this game after skipping it when it first came out. Here's an overview of what is good and bad about it.

Is It Worth It?

R.A. McKenzie, Amazon
29 April 2012
  • Summary: I am rarely the kind of gamer who thinks a franchise has to stick its roots. Far from it, actually. Look at how departing from the norm birthed such great titles like "Metroid Prime", "Resident Evil 4", and "Metal Gear Solid 3". However, this 2008 entry in the "Prince of Persia" franchise has too many issues to make me give it a must-buy recommendation. My issues are not story-related whatsoever.

Not as much fun as the original

S. Carlson, Amazon
26 August 2011
  • Summary: I've played through the many incarnations of the Prince of Persia saga, and enjoyed most of them. This PS3 update, however, left me a little cold. The gameplay is extremely repetitive and the world you roam as the Prince is needlessly complicated to navigate. There are some cool acrobatic and wall running moves as with the previous games, but nothing new and different enough to hold the attention for long. Give this one a pass, or at least rent it first.

Big letdown

M. Lee, Amazon
17 May 2010
  • Summary: This game was a big letdown for me. I knew going into it that most people criticized it for being extremely easy, but fun. And it is. If you fall off a ledge, Elika catches you; if you get killed in battle, Elika rescues you; if you get lost, Elika shows you exactly where to go. Sure, watching yourself get saved and starting at the last checkpoint is about the same as dying in a practical sense, but it feels a little bit like the game is holding your hand.

What have you done with my beloved Prince?

Paul Stuart ""...also I'll brush my teeth..., Amazon
30 December 2009
  • Summary: Thankfully Amazon reviewers are a bit more balanced than mainstream gaming sites because - quite frankly - this stands as arguably the worst game to date in the 'Prince of Persia' (POP) legacy series. Yes, you read that correctly. It pains me to state the above as I've literally played every iteration of POP dating back to Jordan Mechner's sinisterly hard 2D side scroller. As a result, I literally counted down the hours until the latest version's release date.

Beautiful! But.......

Laney50w "LaneyAmpUser", Amazon
23 October 2009
  • Summary: Just a short review: As all the other reviewers have already mentioned, this game is absolutely stunning! Graphics, colors... And here's something refreshing: Even the storyline, and character interaction is REALLY GOOD! Makes you feel like you're actually watching a movie! Huge world, lots of room for exploration...etc However, my only main issue with the game is the fighting platform. Not that it's bad, but, it could be better.

Beautiful, but repetitive and frustrating

thecooley, Amazon
24 June 2009
  • Summary: My husband is a big fan of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune , and in watching the previews for this game, we thought the gameplay would be along those same lines. Boy, were we wrong. We are newcomers to the Prince of Persia series, so we had no prior frame of reference in terms of storyline or combat skills. Here's what we thought of the game. GRAPHICS: Gorgeous! The characters have a slight comic-book feel, with black outlines around them.

beautiful graphics but boring gameplay

Rachel B, Amazon
31 December 2008
  • Summary: The graphics where outstanding. This game is great for a child or beginner - there is no skill needed - Elika will save you everytime. Battles - boring. There is very little action in this game. A few bosses that you fight using 3 moves. I enjoyed the game to begin with but got bored after I realized that it wasn't getting any better. It is very repetative. It is a game that I will play once and it will sit on the shelf.

Beautiful, but flawed in the same way as Assassin's Creed...

Benny Bobo, Amazon
15 December 2008
  • Summary: To give some perspective for my review, I think I should point out that on the scale of gamers, I fall somewhere between the "casual fan" and the "obsessive fanboy." With that said, I found Prince of Persia disappointing for several reasons. First and foremost was Ubisoft's (second) failure to fully take advantage of their astounding open-world engine.

Prince Of Persia : Simply Stated, Overrated....

Masked Jackal, Amazon
8 December 2008
  • Summary: I really enjoyed this game when I first popped it in, unfortunately it became very boring after only a short time. Everything seemed to be repeating itself over and over, and all of the levels were basically completed in the same way, {by wall climbing, ceiling running, and pole swinging} in order to get to your final battle destination...
