Excerpt: Pool is a sport that has been played for centuries around the world, and the sport has made its way into the video game industry plenty of times over the years as well. Whether playing classic 8-Ball, attempting to pull off the best trick shots or even completely changing the rules of the game for more extreme releases of pool games, nearly every iteration of the sport has been released in some form or another at some time in gaming, but the game has never looked better...
Conclusion: Nothing cheap, nothing overly time consuming, but especially in the case of the Endurance mode achievements, of which there are several, requiring a high level of skill and/or practise. This is an excellent pool game, I might even say definitive. Worthy of 1200MSP. The fact that it is only 800MSP makes it a steal. And if you need any more content, there's already a large pack of balls, cues and decals available for a paltry 80MSP more.
Conclusion: Sports games can be hit or miss. On the execution side, Pool Nation is all hit. I absolutely feel that there is no more accurate representation of the game of pool, and was really impressed with all the extra features Cherry Pop Games added to the overall product. Community online play misses the mark, but there’s not much to be done when there’s rarely anyone to play against.
Excerpt: Beautiful Balls. Seriously. I've never seen balls as beautiful as these, Shiny, smooth and perfectly round, animated with the deft touch of a programmer that knows their way around a decent sphere. I'm not even taking the piss here y'know. I was honestly blown away by how good this game looks, from the lighting to the weave on the tables surface, this is one pin sharp grade A effort.
