Summary: Now I don't know what frustrates me more, the NHL lockout or NHL 2Krap10! I was looking for something different when it comes to hockey vid games and I thought why not try out NHL2k10? The only plus in all of this is since it's an older game I didn't pay that much for it, thankfully! Let me start off by highlighting the good, which there isn't much of. Now I don't play season or franchise, simply tournament or playoffs. No online play either.
Summary: I'm not going to spend much time on this review. Basically I really like the game, but it has a lot of bugs. 2K sports announced there would be no patch for NHL2K10 for the PS3. So if you want a bug-filled good game, get it. After playing it for a couple games, I don't think I can't handle all the visual and other bugs they have. I've got to say "booooooo" to a company not doing a patch on an obviously buggy release. That really knocks down my opinion of them.
Summary: Another year another sad attempt to beat out EA's NHL game. Yet again another failed attempt at creating a good hockey video game. The game lacks in many areas this year. The gameplay seems a step back from last years title and the controls are never simple enough to pick up on right away. The visuals are there but are ruined by the gameplay and strange animations.
Summary: I have been an avid fan of the 2K series since it was first introduced in 2000. Since then i have been on board for all releases. This year was a HUGE disapointment. The interface is horrible and there is a weird feeling to the movement of the players, its like theyre stuck in quicksand. NHL 2K9 was a lot better. I thought i would get used to it but i didnt. The graphics in this game are good and the intros are nice but the overall controls are not that good.
Summary: As a rabid hockey fan, I went out and grabbed both games this morning. EA has been reliably great over the past few years, 2K has had a rough time so I wanted to give them both a shot. First off, 2K10 has some really great intros/presentations. The stadiums/lighting and pregame hype look amazing. The players faces are more accurate than NHL 10 and the stadium sounds seem more lively. Sadly, that's all I have to say about 2K10 as positives.
