Summary: I came back to the NHL series after not owning one for many years and was blown away. My one disappointment was that the 94 mode did not include the actual 1994 rosters. This makes 94 mode a lot less interesting to me, but the game has enough other features to keep me playing. The best feature for my family is the ability to simplify the controls. This allows my young son and me to play together.
Summary: This really is a great game. I have played it a lot over the last year and I'm going to keep playing it instead of buying NHL 15 because EA apparently thinks customers will buy any junk they throw at them. There are enough features in this game to keep it entertaining for a long time to come. A few glitchy annoyances, but I have learned to live with that, knowing that you can't expect too much from EA SPORTS anymore.
Much better than 13, nostalgic of the good ole days

Summary: Good example of an update and game changer for a sports title that gets refreshed every year just for the sake of roster changes. nice old school classic modes and new changes to revamp team management from a managers point of view. Great hockey as well for career mode. The classic game modes are sweet. brings back memories. This title really brings back the memories of owning the crap out of the nhl with the messier dynasty of the NY Rangers with nhl 04.
Summary: Ok, so I will say that I love the NHL series, I have since its inception. This game plays as well as all of its recent incarnations. You don't really have to change much to a game so good. To me. the significant negative reviews are pretty harsh. here are my subtle issues with the game: 1) Faceoffs. I can honestly say this is the most frustrating aspect of the game. Even messing with the sliders, setting it to a variety of difficulties, it is impossible to win faceoffs.
Summary: I think this game meets the standards for EA Sports - my only critique is that not every time in the NHL when you check someone of a different size, whether you meant to or not, does is start a fight. I like where they tried to go with this feature but it might be a little too aggressive. Also, why not bench clearing scrums, really push the rivalry angle if your going for the overall enforcer role. In the end, its a sold game that is fun!
Summary: I'm a casual player of this kind of game. The "live the life" mode is a lot of fun good fir a quick game with a big game feel. If you understand basic hockey. Trap vs crash the net etc the easy mode is almost too easy. Beating the computer 10 nill isn't fun. Overall it's a solid hockey game. Loss of one star because of the music the same 5 tracks get very old very fast.
Summary: Overall a very good game. Have to adjust the settings accordingly to make it right for you. The AI is better than it's been in past years (I don't buy the game every year), it's more realistic in terms of skating, hitting, & goaltending. I don't expect these games to be like an exact hockey simulation, but there are a bunch of little things that do add up, some of which are simple hockey concepts: Offsides for instance happens way too much when you're just simply skating...
