Summary: I wish I could give a better review for comparison to the earlier versions in the series, but I got into hockey last year. In less than 2 years, I have found myself becoming more and more involved then I have anything else in my life. I played the demo and was looking forward to getting the full version. I enjoy being able to add customer music for intermission and of course goal scoring. I am familiar with the EA Sports Franchise from playing NFL, but this is different.
Summary: Length:: 1:15 Mins Edited to add video. Watch the puck teleport through my goalie's pad. Not screened, no deflection, a shot a high school goalie could stop. Oh, did I mention this goal tied the game? This is the kind of crap you will put up with if you play this game. Keep the team to the perimeter, clear the crease, game tying goal on an easy shot. I can't believe I paid $60 for this. So I wrote a long review of this game, but came back to edit after playing 25 games.
Summary: Good game, wish EA Servers had better connection... But this game is the best NHL since 09. The skating system is much better, the hitting is finally awesome again, and plays throughout the game influence the entire game (example: checking to intimidate). This game is a lot more friendly to players who use a bigger build (the older nhls, everyone was as small as could be because they could be really fast and had little consequence for doing so, but with new hitting...
Summary: I love these hockey games and this one is no different. The biggest changes from NHL 13 for me are the new additions to the "Be A Pro" mode, which is actually "Live the Life" now, which is essentially some cosmetic touchups and some questions before or after games, and the shorter load times. NHL 13 would always take forever to sim through a day or just to navigate the menus, but this game is much better in those regards.
Summary: I was about to swear off NHL games for a while with the difficulties I had the past few years with the games. '12 and '13 had too many glitches for me to want to continue playing. Not any more! '14 seems much more smooth to play. The graphics are great, it's extremely realistic, and just so much fun to play! I play Live the Life and Online Team Play. The little tidbits they put into the Live the Life mode are interesting and fun.
Summary: This is by far the best hockey game there is for any system. I had a problem with my first disk where it developed a hairline crack starting from the middle of the disk and it became unreadable. I alerted Amazon and they had a replacement on the way BEFORE I even had the defective one shipped back. AWESOME!
