NFL Tour Review

PlayStation Universe
8 April 2009
  • Summary: NFL Tour is amazing – at being a terrible game. Don’t purchase this title under any circumstances whatsoever.
  • Pros: Somewhat playable offline multiplayer
  • Cons: Broken, lopsided gameplay too simplified for its own good, Atrocious graphics, Perhaps the most annoying announcer in the history of videogames

NFL Tour

Playstation Illustrated
22 October 2008
  • Excerpt: NFL Tour is a stripped down version of NFL Street , which in turn was essentially a stripped down, arcade version of Madden . While the conversion from Madden to Street actually made for a fun game, the conversion from Street to NFL Tour removes most of what made the original fun in the first place. One of the cool things about Street was the locations of the fields. Games took place in venues ranging from construction yards to drive-ins, which gave the game a fun feel.

NFL Tour Review

GameSpot
18 July 2008
  • Excerpt: When EA unveiled NFL Tour, the question many people found themselves asking was "What's the difference between NFL Tour and NFL Street?" After spending a lot of the time with the game, we can finally reveal the answer: NFL Tour isn't played on the street. There's also a little less "attitude" and fewer customization options in NFL Tour. If this sounds like a significant step backward--it is.
  • Pros: Simple controls are easy to pick up and play, Someone was smart enough to not charge the standard $60 for what is essentially an arcade game
  • Cons: Trey Wingo's repetitive jokes about repetitive announcers stink, Trey Wingo's repetitive jokes about repetitive announcers stink, Not many game modes and too few customization options, Defense is pretty pointless, Trey Wingo's repetitive jokes about repetitive announcers stink

NFL Tour Review

GamerNode
24 January 2008
  • Excerpt: I think we should designate the day that NFL Tour came out as the official Madden Appreciation Day. We’ll roast hot dogs, visit with old friends, and at the end of the night we’ll all sit down to a game of NFL Tour, become maddeningly frustrated (no pun intended) and beg for the nuances of the Madden series. NFL Tour is a re-branding of sorts of the old NFL Street series.

  • Excerpt: NFL Tour: You can’t get much more watered down than this
  • Pros: • Easy to use controls
  • Cons: • Basically a watered down NFL Street, • Announcer gets old after one game, • Stadiums all look the same, • Too easy

  • Excerpt: Arcade sports games are awesome. Bottom line. So when a high-profile publisher gets behind the reins of a sports license and turns it into an arcade game, I pay attention. EA, in particular, has dedicated separate in-house teams to develop arcade games such as NBA Street, NFL Street, the upcoming FIFA Street, and now NFL Tour. It seems a little unusual to have two NFL arcade franchises under one label, but we won't questing EA's ways.

NFL Tour

Strategy Informer

  • Conclusion: After Homecourt and even the previous NFL Street games, this is more than a huge disappointment. Taking a decent game, filled with potential, and removing almost everything that made it enjoyable is not a good way to “evolve a franchise”. Let’s hope the forthcoming FIFA Street 3 doesn’t suffer the same fate. As they say in their version of “Football” – FUMBLE!

NFL Tour

Console Monster
1 November 2008
  • Summary: The NFL has never been popular in Europe, but since I am from the U.S. I live and breathe the NFL.  At first glance, NFL Tour looks like your regular run of the mill sports arcade game.  Therefore, you would expect it to be fast paced, filled with exaggerated moments, and since it’s the NFL: big hits.  Sadly, NFL Tour fails to deliver in a lot of areas that make an arcade sports game great.
  • Pros: Easy pick up and go, Simple to learn, Counter system is fun
  • Cons: Repetitive commentary is extremely noticeable, Faces of players are bland and unrecognizable, Gameplay is unbearably slow
