Excerpt: Magic Johnson is standing at center court, hands extended in disbelief. This can’t be happening , he seems to think. Despite - or perhaps because of – his superhuman efforts, the 1991 Lakers have just lost for the fourth time in a row to their counterparts from Portland. As he trudges off the court, he looks around, almost as if this is all just a bad dream. Naturally, it is.
Pros: Beautiful presentation, Incredibly polished controls, Historic teams are amazing
Cons: Steep learning curve, Long load times, No Charles Barkley!
Conclusion: If you're a basketball fan or not, NBA 2K12 is a glorious achievement. It'll undoubtedly have the pulling power to keep players interested until the next instalment, as it's wide variety of modes and excellence on court culminates into a winning formula. It's somewhat fitting that this game features some of the best players that have ever graced the sport, both old and new, as this is undoubtedly up there with any Hall of Fame contenders we've seen before.
Conclusion: The Association also returns, but unlike the My Player mode there are no major additions and improvements to the game. It is basically the same game as last year, which is disappointing. This year though, the Association mode is playable online, so you can grab a bunch of friends and compete to see who the best at running a NBA team is.
