Summary: i was hoping to get this game as a nascar sim as my dad is a big fan and it has begun to rub off on me. the graphics are good. but the gameplay is more of an arcade racer. as long as you know that its not a big deal. its deeper than your average arcade racer but the handling and ai make it feel that way. and the drafting is ridiculous. Im either winning by half a lap or i turn up the difficulty and theyre impossible to catch up to.
Summary: Let me start out by saying that I am a HUGE NASCAR fan. I play NASCAR 09 a ton because it was the only NASCAR game available. After seeing all the videos and all the hype surrounding this game, so far it's been a bit of a disappointment. The game needs major patches to fix issues. If the game didnt have so many glitches and silly mistakes, it could easily be a 4 star rating or an 8/10. Below are the pro's and con's after playing the game for 3 hours.
NASCAR 2011 PS3: a little effort and it will be perfect
Silvano Carmignani, Amazon
21 June 2011
Summary: I had almost all the release of the game and I think 2011 is the better I ever played. A little effort could be made for damages of the cars that sometimes are less realistic than preceeding release. This is particularly evident in the replay where flying cars don't change their body. Nontheless a good game.
Summary: This game isn't perfect, but what game is? That being said, a lot of these 1 star ratings are extremely harsh. Yes there are bugs and some issues, ok, GLARING issues (cautions, online play, thin career mode), but a day after release isn't the time to bash...wait a little longer and after a few patches before coming to a conclusion.
Summary: Here's where I'm coming from. I got started on Papyrus sims on the PC 10-15 years ago. I went from those games to the EA Nascar games for X-Box but was really disappointed, particularly in the graphics, even after putting in some time on them. I didn't bother to even try the EA versions for the PS3. Today, prior to buying Nascar 2011, I've been driving F1 2007, Dirt2, and GT5 for the PS3. I love all three games and they have set the standard for my expectations.
Summary: Been waiting for this game to come out and have not been disappointed with it at all! Graphics are cool and game play is smooth. Just takes a little practice to get used to it. But you will catch on real fast.
Summary: I'll start by saying the graphics and sound are outstanding. I like the fact that 43 real life Nascar drivers are represented within the game. The choice of difficulty settings and assists allow the gamer to run races in a car handling experience they are most comfortable. The tracks, car detail, pit stop mechanics, and overall presentation are very well done.
