Namco Museum Essentials

Namco Museum Essentials is a collection of five PS3 games developed and published by Namco Bandai and bring users an updated version of arcade classic shooter Xevious and a Namco Bandai space in PlayStation Home. The compilation repackages Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Dragon Spirit, and Xevious and is available for download via the PlayStation Network. Xevious has been re-imaged to an enhanced 1080p version and included in the package as Xevious: Resurrection, and the compilation features Namco Bandai Home space which is a virtual arcade that allows players to try out demos of the Museum titles, view the latest trailers for Namco Bandai titles, and collect 50 different classic Namco and The Idolm@ster items to show off to friends in PlayStation Home. The compilation also allows players to win PlayStation Home items through the rewards system.

Features

From Essentials packs stamps, Namco Museum Points, Trophies (11 trophies to be won, including 5 bronze, 5 silver, and 1 gold trophies), and PlayStation Home rewards that gamers can unlock as they play along (50 unlockables), the game features five classics PlayStation games: Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Dragon Spirit, and Xevious as well as the Xevious: Resurrection which has been enhanced with 1080p resolution. The compilation also features free trials to try out demos of Museum titles. The games involve collecting points to get stamps on player cards to unlock features such as decorative Pac-Man arcade cabinet for a gamers’ apartment in Home, Trophies (the more Trophies earn, the more hats, shirts, and more items a gamer can earn for their Home avatar. NM Points can also be earned to increase a gamer’s grade in the game. The games also features “High Score Mode” that allows gamers to put up their best scores and see they stack up against the rest of the world. The game’s main feature is the reworked Xevious: Resurrection, a re-imagining of the vertical shooter from 1982 that has enhanced visuals and AI. The game also features Namco Homespace with tons of classic Namco posters, Namco Theatre to check out the latest trailers and scope out a Tekken Statue and a Ridge Racer ride.
