Reviews and Problems with Motorstorm: Pacific Rift

2 player splitcreen; sam old motorstorm
7 November 2009
Summary: It's pretty much the same game as the first motorstorm, with the addition of monster trucks, 2 player split screen, and (16) all new tracks. Monster trucks are very fun to drive, but get boring quickly. Splitscreen is very fun, I only wish I could play with 4 people. The tracks are way more crazy and confusing than the original, and generally more fun. those 3 things make it worth getting, but expect to be constantly falling off of cliffs and smashing into things.
Visually stunning but frustratingly tedious single player mode

Summary: Most racing games are the same, learn the controls, memorize the tracks, practice using different vehicles and learn to utilize each one. This one is no different and the terrain is stunning to look at when racing, but it doesn't make up for the really hard AI in the later levels and the loose controls while little rocks and bits of a fence can send the vehicle to a tumbling halt.
Summary: Motorstorm is a great arcade game. In my opinion it is offroad ACTION, and less of a racer. I know ACTION doesn't seem befitting of a game in which you drive, but there are too many problems to call it a real racer. Unless you are a big rig or a Monster truck, it feels as if the environment, the other vehicles, and YOUR OWN VEHICLE are all stacked up against you (not in the strategic good way). Let me bring you to a better understanding..........
Summary: I have to say, this is probably the most frustrating game I have ever played (together with the first Motorstorm game). This frustration is born out of the parts of the game which are supposed to make it fun, which is confusing. As a lot of people have said, the events in latter levels of the game (level 6 onwards) are very difficult to win. You have to learn the tracks really well to make sure you're taking the right route for whatever vehicle you're using.
Summary: Motorstorm: PR does a lot of things right. Its got amazing graphics, beautiful sights, exciting tracks with fantastic jumps and lots of different routes to take and discover. It has a decent number of different vehicles for each class, with nice colors and models. It even has a few very cool driver skins to unlock and choose from. There's a nice variety in the vehicle classes, with bikes, atv's and even monster trucks! Oh yeah!
Summary: Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is the follow up to the original Motorstorm game which I have never played but I have enjoyed Pacific Rift since I got it. If you have never played a Motorstorm game, then they are vehicle racing games but the difference is all the racing is off road. There are a variety of vehicles from motorbikes and quads right up to tankers and monster trucks and a big variety in between.
Summary: If you are like me - a big fan of Burnout or ramming people in Gran Turismo - then you are gonna love this. It's got a good mix of vehicles, some brilliant tracks, no lag online, a great rap-less sound track (including Queens of the stone age!) and excellent graphics meaning that it's not only fun offline but online too!. So right now you must be thinking it sounds like it's the best racer ever right? wrong!.
