Conclusion: MotoGP 10/11 will disappoint anyone who enjoyed last year’s game. In short, the ‘all-new handling’ the game uses as a selling point makes for a game lodged between two conflicting race genres. If they had gone all out to create an arcade game I’d be behind them, but by keeping the simulation sensibilities, the game is confused. Those looking for a racer with Bikes should probably wait for Motorstorm Apocalypse for their racing fix.
Excerpt: Racing motorcycles in the virtual realm is a very different experience to your typical driving game. Riders on two wheels take up far less track space than their racing car counterparts, so overtaking opportunities are plentiful. Accelerating on a bike is a far more electrifying experience than in a car, and weaving in-between your opponents is a nimbler affair.
Excerpt: With a crossover between three of Sony’s franchises, Playstation Move Heroes brings their characters into a strange world to compete in challenges to find out who among them is the best. Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper’s main characters are stolen away from their worlds, giving you the choice of six to use during this mini game collection. These challenges give you a choice of three characters, either the Heroes or their sidekicks.
Summary: This year's Moto GP comes packed with great graphics, improved handling and an all new physics engine. Too bad the developers decided not to add any new modes or gameplay quirks. The end result is a solid racing game that is neither fresh nor original! This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on. However, that does not always apply to classic/retro games.
Excerpt: Capcom’s MotoGP series has carved a bit of a niche out for itself by giving motorcycle racing fans a sim-style experience, but hasn’t quite reached the upper-echelon of racing games despite years of entries because of little things holding it back. Unfortunately, that trend continues with 10/11, which delivers a good game at times, but rarely an exceptional one.
