Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
11 September 2012
Conclusion: All in all Modern Warfare 2 is a major upgrade to the original. The improve game engine helps create immersive environments that do a great job of mirroring what the actual locals would look and feel like. The sound design is boosted greatly by the music and sounds help ratchet up the action and intensity. You are on edge during all the firefights and even in between. This coupled with the graphics make Modern Warfare 2 the best first person shooter out.
Excerpt: The designers succeeded in creating a strong sense of chaos throughout the campaign where it seemed that calamity was waiting around every corner. Maybe I was skulking through the back alleys of a South American city to capture someone with information I needed while fighting off that guy's personal militia. Or storming a governmental building in order to retake it from enemy forces. Or defending my position inside a house from wave after wave of soldiers.

Summary: The biggest game of the year is finally here. Infinity Ward created one of the most popular, well-crafted and subsequently imitated first-person-shooter games in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and a sequel was inevitable. Two years on and we have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 , a game that aims to be bigger, sexier, and more full of explosions than Call of Duty 4 ever was. A year of controversy and hype preceded it.
Excerpt: The graphics in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are simply stunning. Seriously, this game series just keeps getting better and better and manages to top itself with every release. Your journeys will take you all over the globe, from the sweltering and dirty city streets of Rio de Janeiro, to a Gulag in the frozen tundra, to gritty Afghanistan and even to the East Coast in the good ol' USA.
Conclusion: As a whole, MW2 is spectacular in all the right areas; building and refining on the most solid of bases. And although its political heart might not be in the ‘right’ place, at the very least it might make a few people think rather than skim through on muscle memory and twitch reactions. That’s a rarity in itself, and something to be respected in an age of apathy.
Excerpt: There's a very short list of game developers that can continually and consistently impress gamers with each new release and Infinity Ward is near the top of that list. Each new Call of Duty game somehow manages to top its predecessor, and the games' campaigns and multiplayer action maintain their level of intensity from one release to the next. Modern Warfare 2 continues this Call of Duty legacy and does it proud.
