MLB 12 The Show

Destructoid
2 September 2013
  • Summary: Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth at AT&T Park with the heart of the order coming up, the division rival Padres brought out their new closer, Houston Street, to wrap up their victory. Street’s idiosyncratic windup and delivery made short order of the leadoff man, leaving an off-balance hitter flailing at a ball in the dirt.

  • Excerpt: America’s pastime has undoubtedly undergone some ups and downs this past decade. But for all the (melo)drama of the big leagues, baseball video games are usually pretty straightforward. Reviewing MLB 12: The Show is a little weird, mostly because I’m struggling to get the bad taste of Major League Baseball 2K12 out of my mouth. However, I also felt like The Show is largely unchanged this year and its age is starting to show around the seams.

MLB 12: The Show review

GamesRadar
24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: More than any other sports game that many of us Stateside have ever played, MLB: The Show has the power to dazzle spectators. Even non-baseball fans seem incapable of escaping its spell. Sony's San Diego Studios long ago mastered the art of authentic baseball presentation, and have seemingly only needed to make minor tweaks since then.
  • Pros: The outstanding presentation, The fluid animation and superb ball physics, Improvements to the lineup and trade logic
  • Cons: The problematic netcode, Franchise mode is long overdue for a revamp, "Pulse pitching" is both shallow and disappointing

Authentic baseball sim presents another strong season.

Common Sense Media
25 April 2012
  • Summary: Parents need to know that MLB 12 The Show is a straightforward simulation of Major League Baseball. Players can create their own star, or join one the league's teams on a quest toward the World Series. The game can be played online with open chat, so kids using that option could hear inappropriate things coming from strangers.

MLB 12: The Show (PS3) review

GameZone
31 March 2012
  • Excerpt: Spring training is coming to a close, which means it's time to prepare for the start of the official MLB season.  Or another year of saying "There's always next year" for us Cubs fans. Much like professional baseball players, it took me a while to shake off the rust of not having played MLB The Show for quite a while.  Unfortunately, it took me a bit longer than usual thanks to the new pulse pitching feature — a change I'm not too fond of.

MLB 12: The Show Review

gamingillustrated.com
28 March 2012
  • Excerpt: MLB 12: The Show is the latest in the line of award winning baseball games exclusive available on the PlayStation 3 . This time around there are updated physics, graphics and expanded use of PlayStation Move . Overall, this release definitely feels like a nice step forward from last year’s version. Call me old fashioned but I’ve always loved playing baseball video games. I go back to the days of “Hardball!
