Online Play canceled

Max Sterling, Amazon

  • Summary: I think many of the people who wrote previous reviews have given this game a fair assessment. I got back into playing console games recently and picked this game up b/c it was last years game and I didn't want to break the bank on video games. As a baseball fanatic, I really enjoyed this game. I really think they hit the mark on a great baseball game more than others that I have played.

Killer game, but bad online servers

D. Morin "sporin71", Amazon
30 March 2009
  • Summary: This is literally the best baseball game I've ever seen. Graphics and gameplay are spot on (PS3). A simply sensational game in person or against the computer on my own TV. BUT online play is just awful. Tons of lag and "traffic delays" make it barely playable. I've yet to get a really good connection. This is detailed elsewhere on the 'net so I'm sure it's not just my household connection (wired, cable internet, very fast).

Great game if you don't play online otherwise crap.

Mike Cherry, Amazon

  • Summary: The game looks great and all that but what if you don't want to play the computer? Online is UNPLAYABLE. I have a fast connection and I've googled about this and everybody else has the same problems. Every game you try to play online lags badly. I've played Call of Duty without any lag, Madden 09 without lag, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe without lag for the most part but MLB 09 ALWAYS lags. How are you supposed to play a lagging baseball game?

Not enjoyable

CHH , GameStop
8 March 2009
  • Summary: The game difficulty on even Rookie is too frustrating to enjoy. Even the best pitches will not hit the spots even when having a perfect release. You can pitch to where the catcher calls for it, but it always seems like the batter is expecting it. The base running is not straight forward and requires a lot of different button presses for simply advancing. Offense is at the will of the CPU to determine if you will get a hit or not.
