Mini Ninjas PS3 Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Hitman and Kane & Lynch are two games that are aimed at mature audiences, thus it came as quite a shock to learn that developer, IO Interactive, were releasing a cute and cuddly game. Mini Ninjas is that game, and unsurprisingly those eponymous ninjas aren‘t the murderous kind that spill gallons on top of gallons of blood.

  • Conclusion: Even though Mini Ninjas is catering to a different audience than a game like Ninja Gaiden, it still provides a solid gaming experience than can be experience by the casual and the hardcore gamers out there. From lush environments, simple yet intuitive gameplay mechanics and an incredible musical soundtrack, Mini Ninjas has the total package some expect from blockbuster titles.

Mini Ninjas

Strategy Informer

  • Conclusion: Fundamentally, Mini Ninjas is a sweet-natured, breezily fun hack and slash title embellished with a few gentle RPG elements that inject a little extra depth to proceedings. It’s perfectly pleasant and enjoyable brand of cartoon violence will probably see a good few hours of your time fly by as you swipe your way through adorable, glowing-eyed samurai enemies. Just like anything mini - mini eggs, mini cheddars, mini Babybel - Mini Ninjas is exceedingly moreish.

Expert Review

GameSpot
5 October 2009
  • Summary: Mini Ninjas is a decidedly different turn for developer IO Interactive, maker of the Hitman series. This action adventure is low on gruesome assassinations and high on lighthearted fun, but that doesn't mean fans of stealth-kill simulators, or anyone else for that matter, should skip over it. Mini Ninjas is an approachable and enjoyable game with a charming art style that brings its lively world to life.
  • Pros: Great art style creates a vibrant, cohesive world, Level designs encourage exploration, A ton of combat options, Excellent authentic music
  • Cons: Fighting gets a bit tiresome toward the end, Uncooperative camera

Kids With Swords

Game Debate
23 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Although ninjas enjoy swanning around in their pyjamas all day, they’re generally regarded as tough-as-nails warriors, eternally loyal to their master and able to slice the nuts off a squirrel at fifty paces. You almost never see them splayed out on the couch, beer can in one hand and remote in the other, watching back-to-back Top Gear on Dave.
  • Pros: Fun, cartoony adventure, Kid-pleasing, Ninja Ninja!
  • Cons: A little too simple, No co-op, Limited replayability

Mini Ninjas

Hardcore Gamer
19 September 2009
  • Summary: Not since I-Ninja a half-decade ago has there been an all-ages ninja game that delivered as enjoyable an experience as Mini Ninjas . It’s a well-crafted action-adventure game that blends platforming, magic, show and long-range combat, magic, and stealth together seamlessly. Combine that with a roster of six playable characters out to save feudal Japan from being overcome by an evil samurai and his legion of followers and you‘ve got yourself one fun game.
