Review: Megamind - Ultimate Showdown (Sony PS3)
21 December 2010
Excerpt: I get ribbed a bit from my Youtube cohorts for “playing kid’s games.” When you go through my PS3 trophy score, you will see games like Lego Harry Potter , Ratchet and Clank , Sly Cooper , and so on. Part of this can be excused by the fact that I have a soon-to-be eight year old son, but another part of it is also attributable to the fact that I have always been a nut for platformers, and you just don’t really see hard-edged platformers that aren’t also third person...
Conclusion: So that's Megamind: Ultimate Showdown then - the epitome of a terrible movie tie-in game. Some silly parents will no doubt still buy it for their children, because there's a Dreamworks logo on the cover and it's about that film what's at the pictures, innit. At least the rest of us can have a good laugh at their expense.
Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Dreamworks’ latest animated feature starring Will Farell gets a franchised release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in the form of Megamind: Ultimate Showdown. The problem with movie-based games is that studios generally rush to make a quick buck based on the popularity of the movie.
Excerpt: Video games based on film licenses often tend to fall into a not just a puddle, but a steaming vat of awfulness. There has been many a terrible attempt to shoehorn the plot into an interactive experience and justify its release to the masses just in time for the film’s release. Therefore these adaptations are usually something greeted with disdain; but we hold out for that one gem, a diamond in the rough that is polished and refined so uniquely it is truly a magical...
Excerpt: Megamind is one of this year's most successful family movies featuring an entertaining premise and some really big names voicing characters. The tie-in videogame features neither of these things. Is this enough to dismiss it entirely? Certainly not. Megamind is a surprisingly entertaining action platformer featuring inventive puzzles and imaginative weapons.
Excerpt: Movie tie-ins are a hit and miss affair at best. For developers, it must feel like being handed the poisoned chalice to be given a major movie license to work with. Your creative hands are tied to a certain extent and you’ve somehow got to cobble together a game without upsetting the original source material or fans of the movie you’re basing your game on.
Excerpt: A tesztlaborban akadt még néhány játék, melyek az év végi zsúfoltság következtében a polcon kallódtak. Ilyen cím a Megamind - Ultimate Showdown is, amely a mozikban futó "Megaagy" licensze alapján készült. Ócska átirat, vagy könnyed remekmű? Nem nehéz kitalálni... Teszt!
Summary: Dreamworks nya film Megamind visas i biograferna på juldagen.
