Conclusion: I didn't like playing Madden 2006 for the most part and I hated playing Madden 2007 even more. Don't play this game. If you like football games then I am sure you will give me a hard time since I am ready to give this one a bad score. My gamer score went up only a tad, it was pointless to even put this one into my system. If I liked these games I would just stop myself from buying them for a year or two, it's all the same anymore, I'd play the older one.
Excerpt: I know this may come as a shock to you, but the #1 third-party publisher in the world is bringing its #1 franchise to the PS3 at launch in the form of
Madden NFL 07
. Some of you may be wondering why EA would even bother with a PS3 (and Wii for that matter) version of
this year when the NFL season will be over halfway complete by November 17
Excerpt: Is it just me or does every new console launch seem to come with an updated version of the Madden franchise? Each year things are tried to evolve the series to new levels, and in the case of the PS3 title, the SIXAXIS controller is integrated into gameplay in a somewhat clumsy way. The PS3 title otherwise is identical to the 360 version, and sadly its remarkably similar to the standard Xbox version; which I used as a basis for this review.
Excerpt: Madden NFL 0 7 for the PlayStation 3 is, more or less, a direct port of the same title on the 360 that came out a few weeks ago. This means that like the others, most of the upgrades you’ll notice come from the jump from 06 to 07 , not 360 to 3. Like in the 360 version, the PS3 port of Madden also features a revamped running system–but it goes a step further.
Excerpt: It's no secret that Madden hasn't been reinventing itself much lately. In fact, after four years the series probably peaked with 2005, as the deepest Madden title ever. But despite drastic changes in the defense game, the differences between 2004 and 2005 weren't instantly recognizable. It made picking up a copy of Madden 2004 for $15 a better bet than plunking down $50 on a slightly revamped game with better defensive AI.
Excerpt: eagerly plunk down cash ever 12 or so months to get a few minor upgrades and yet, here I am, playing the game yet again because we're committed to reviewing every launch game on the PlayStation 3. And EA is laughing all the way to the bank. So who has the last laugh now? Yeah, it's EA.
Excerpt: A console launch without Madden is like a glitzy party without Paris Hilton – it just doesn’t happen. Madden NFL 07 is a complete port of the 360 version, so if you already have the game you’re not missing much. However, if this is your first jump into the next-generation of Madden , you’re in for a treat. Being one of the first really high-profile games to hit both the PS3 and 360, there are bound to be visual comparisons.
Summary: Madden is without doubt one of the most successful and popular sports titles to date with millions of copies being sold worldwide and with yearly updates. Now that the PS3 era has begun EA did not want to miss out and have released Madden ’07 on the PS3. The major question on every sports fan's mind being, is it worth buying ’07 considering it’s not long until ’08 will hit stores worldwide?
Pros: Improved Graphics, New 'Gang' Tackling, Improved Player Animation
Cons: Cut-Scenes Have Frame Rate Issues, Basically A Port From The 360 Version, Not Quite Worth Full Price Tag
