Test LittleBigPlanet 2

Generation NT
20 April 2011

Review: LittleBigPlanet 2

New Gamer Nation
13 April 2011
  • Conclusion: LittleBigPlanet 2 takes everything that was great about the first installment and builds on that charm.  The game is very accessible to new players, while still offering veteran players more options and much more control.  It is hard to get into the new tools extensively, considering the difficulty involved in fully understanding it all; however, from what we’ve seen, they can do anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to do with a creation game.

LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3)

EL33TONLINE
6 February 2011
  • Excerpt: LittleBigPlanet 2 is a starkly different experience depending on if you play it offline or online. Offline it fails to live up to its predecessor’s varied and challenging story mode, despite the many new additions to Sackboy’s arsenal. However, once you’re connected to the LittleBigPlanet servers, the game takes on a completely new dimension and proves that it’s got all the right ingredients to be the best community-based experience on the PlayStation 3.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Review

DailyGame
3 February 2011
  • Excerpt: On the surface, not a whole lot has changed between this and the previous version. You still control the cutest mascot to come to gaming in ages, dress him/her up and make your way through a series of predesigned levels collecting items that you’ll eventually be able to utilize in your own creations. Yes, there’s a new story mode that walks you through 30 levels; not including a series of smaller challenge levels to tackle with or against friends.

LittleBigPlanet 2

Thunderbolt Games
1 February 2011
  • Excerpt: When you boot up LittleBigPlanet 2 for the very first time, the game asks if you’d like to import your sackperson and Pod from the original – assuming you have the relevant data. It might seem like an obvious feature, considering the community aspect involved, but it’s a simple, effective way to welcome you home. Having not played the former entry in months I’d forgotten about my own sackboy, with his broken TV helmet, Cyclops’ eye, busted up grill and pancho.

AV Club
24 January 2011
  • Excerpt: Sequel-worshipping apologists are in for a bumpy year. In October 2010, Fallout 3 got a glorified but fan-pleasing massive expansion pack in New Vegas . Now, although developer Media Molecule swore up and down that there wouldn’t be a follow-up to 2008’s media darling centered on user-generated content, here’s LittleBigPlanet 2 . It has more powerful level-creation tools that let players build their own full-scale games. And customizable artificial intelligence.

LittleBigPlanet 2 review

Gameplanet
30 April 2011
  • Excerpt: LittleBigPlanet 2 is an ambitious follow-up to Media Molecule's charming 2008 platformer. The game greatly expands on the "create" proposition of the game's tagline to deliver a more polished, more diverse product - even if it will take you some time to come to grips with everything it has to offer.
  • Pros: Greatly expanded suite of creation tools. Backwards compatible with user-generated content from the original game, all of which has been given a graphical update.
  • Cons: Backwards compatibility means the "floaty" controls return. We'll have to wait for the creativity of the community to truly shine.
