Excerpt: What do you get when you combine "spaghetti-western" characterizations with fast-paced, multiplayer mayhem? Paradox Interactive is hoping that Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West can answer that question for you. It should be noted that Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West does not set out to re-invent the wheel, and that is probably a good choice.
Summary: If the phrase "Wild West" conjures images of rootin'-tootin' cowboys and no-good varmints shooting each other full of holes at the O.K. Corral, then Lead and Gold might be the game for you. This multiplayer-only shooter pits two gangs of up to five players against each other in familiar game types like Team Deathmatch, Territory Control, and Capture the Flag (or sack of gold, as the case may be).
Pros: Good character class variety, Crisp shooting and movement mechanics, Attractive visuals
Cons: Semi-regular connection drops, Flawed team balancing
Excerpt: War games proliferate in the multiplayer gaming landscape, but the Western is a thinly exploited genre. Enter Lead And Gold: Gangs Of The Wild West . The class-based gunplay between teams of dusty scavengers is fast and dirty, but there’s a sense of strategy that rewards slowing things down a beat and keeping an eye on your fellow cowboys. Four classes each offer unique weapons, from pistol to long-range rifle and devastating shotgun.

Conclusion: However, taking into account the omission of voice chat, the balancing issues and a lack of map variety, the game in its current state can only be cautiously recommended. The experience system certainly needs reworking: at the moment it seems quite elusive and detached, only applying on a ‘per match’ basis.
Conclusion: Small indie developers that go up against large, already established brands impress me. Even when they don't succeed, and the final game doesn't deliver, it's hard not to admire the guts it takes for a small company to take a crack at making a MMO or - as in the case of Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West - an online shooter.
Pros: Nice graphics, rewards teamplay, balanced character classes
