Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp

Project COE
2 June 2009
  • Conclusion: Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp is a classic. While these types of games may not be for everyone, they should be experienced by all. Given the relatively low price of the disc and sheer amount of quirky fun, I give the game my full recommendation. I know my bias shows a little, but you’d understand why if you try the game. Remember, don’t just pick up Time Warp . Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace are also legendary fun for the family.

Lair Review

PlayStation Universe
8 April 2009
  • Summary: Lair is definitely a stupendous game with astonishing gameplay, beautiful graphics, and a soothing soundtrack. The only thing that dents Lair from becoming all that it potentially could have been is definitely the temperate replayability that arises from the linear gameplay. Despite all these issues, the game inculcates a sense of visceral excitement to anyone who gets his/her hands on it.
  • Pros: Unparalleled graphics, Astonishing storyline and incredible soundtrack, Great Sixaxis controls and precision aiming
  • Cons: Linear gameplay makes for a slight tease, FMV's instead of live real-time cinematics, Moderate replayability

Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp

Playstation Illustrated
24 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Once upon a time in an arcade far, far away, there was a classic game franchise known as Dragon's Lair . It was the ultimate quarter muncher that tested dexterity, as well as commitment to learning patterns. It was also the best looking arcade game ever devised because it was entirely hand drawn animation from Don Bluth, the man behind The Secret of NIMH and Anastasia .

  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is The concept of the game sounds perfect on paper. You will control dragons in a war and follow orders to secure victory. With an experienced developer in Factor 5 on board, things looked bright and the chances of failure looked close to none. Enter Lair, where the concept of having fun in a video game is diminished to you following pointless orders and getting nothing out of it for hours.

Lair

Strategy Informer
5 November 2007
  • Conclusion: This game is clever, but not well thought out. Unfortunately its problems do tip the scales. But the biggest problem, the controls, can be dealt with by persistence and practice. If you do overlook the problems the game works out very well in respect to an action game with some amazing graphics. Also there is plenty of replay value with medals to be collected, which unlocks new moves or bonus content.

Lair

PS3style.com
2 November 2007
  • Conclusion: The PS3 still does not have its killer app, and Lair will not be making any top ten lists this year (positive list, that is). Many were looking forward to this game, and some of those may actually be satisfied. If you lower your expectations and ignore the crappy controls, this would be a good game; but after shelling out $400 or $500 for a console (depending on the configuration) and another $60 for a game that has been hyped for so long, you’re entitled to something...

Lair

impulsegamer
1 November 2007
  • Excerpt: Lair is set in a world that has been ravaged by war and naturally disasters and transforms players into a dragon rider as they attempt to ensure the longevity of their race by stopping an almost unstoppable army. Beautifully directed with amazing cut scenes, Lair is hampered by almost unplayable gameplay which questions how on Earth Sony had allowed this title to be released. Read on good reader...

Lair review (PS3)

HonestGamers
27 September 2007
  • Excerpt: The gamer in you will probably wish that your mount didn't take so long to turn, but consider how unrealistic it would be if you could maneuver through the air like a sports coup with wings. You might argue that realism went out the door the minute mythological monsters entered the equation, but one fact remains: riding on a beast's back should feel... beastly.
