Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-II
26 April 2012
Conclusion: While this game isn’t perfect, you can definitely tell that it’s a step in the right direction. You can expect to spend at least 30 hours in this game depending on how you approach the title. For myself, I clocked in around 75 hours seeing as I tried to do everything and see everything possible. It also doesn’t hurt that there is tons of DLC for game; both free and paid.
Summary: Like the first game, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2 ends up being an average game. It fixes some of the biggest complaints from the first one but creates a brand new set of issues by failing at what the first game succeeded: a funny, satirical story that kept you engaged from beginning to end. Fans will be pleased at the improvements of the combat and traveling while complaining about the story.
Excerpt: Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 (from now on just called Mk2) is the sequel to one of the most unique gaming concepts of 2011. Playing in the magical “Gamindustri”, a mystical re-imagining of the real life game industry, as a video game console personified as a girl, is at least an interesting idea. The first title never actually managed to get the actual game designed around that concept to match up to its potential, but was a decent experience regardless.
Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 – The PS3 Attitude Review

Conclusion: Hyperdimension Neptunia was fun for a while but ultimately became a chore to play through. Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 fixes practically everything that was wrong with the original and provides a refreshing take on the RPG genre. If you’re looking to get into the series, go ahead and jump straight into mk2. The story is humorously entertaining and while the graphics may be a little dated, the gameplay is satisfying.
