Filled with gorgeous images, highly-charged emotions and characters that perform with supreme dramatic skills, Heavenly Sword is a story of vengeance.

Nariko, our heroine, pursues her need to revenge against the power-hungry King and the brutal Imperial Army. The focal point of the story is the Heavenly Sword, an ancient blade once wielded by a god. The sword holds enormous power. Unfortunately, no mortal can use the sword without sacrificing his life-force.

In the King’s hunger for power, he attacks the tribe guarding the Heavenly Sword, whose leader is Nariko’s father. In desperation, Nariko grasps the Heavenly Sword to fight in defense of her father and the rest of the tribe. Nariko survives, but the King has escaped. Now armed with the Heavenly Sword, she must succeed in her quest for revenge against the King before the Sword fully drains her life-force and takes over her life. Will she succeed in time?

Review Summary

The theme of the story is simple. Heavenly Sword is a third person action adventure where the player must guide the heroine and sometimes her friends. The enemies, who are huge in numbers, will be fought with the Heavenly Sword. Your aim is to defend yourself in a combat where you are fighting with ten or more people and each of them is attacking you using different attacks. However the game is quite complex and difficult at times. You can identify the attack of the enemies by their movements, which are colourised as an indication. This game is not long and players can finish within six hours. If you are an amateur of War games you will definitely love it. Graphically Heavenly Sword is fabulous. The character models, textures, weapons, animation, especially facial animation, are stunning. For players who are on the look out of action games, Heavenly Sword comes close, but it is not satisfying. As a traditional action game Heavenly Sword, however, cannot be matched to action games like, God of War or Dynasty Warriors. The controls are not that efficient, for ex, you cannot jump, which, is quite a disadvantage as in that game combos force you to hop all over the place. Nevertheless Heavenly Sword will appeal best to amateurs but not to professionals of fast action games.
