Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Strategy Informer
12 February 2010
  • Conclusion: In the end, the Harry Potter video game curse still hasn’t been lifted. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is still as poor as any of the past titles have been and the future doesn’t look any better with only one book left. The graphics are borderline satire, the voice-acting is atrocious, the gameplay is monotonous, and the storyline isn’t told properly. I’d recommend reading the book or watching the film again before you ever decide to play the game.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince game review

Boys' Life magazine
9 October 2009
  • Excerpt: Could the new Harry Potter game use more magic? There’s some good news and some bad news, depending on which version you play. I’m afraid I have to tell you to stay away from the handheld versions. Both the PSP and DS games are pretty similar. In some ways, they just don’t look finished and corners have been cut. In an adventure game that isn’t too full of true adventure, the gamemakers add a lot that isn’t in the book, and it’s boring stuff.

  • Summary: Harry Potter has yet another movie based video game, with improved controls and a sand box environment to boot. It is also badly written and suffers from a lack of decent challenge.

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: Harry Potter has become a legitimate modern-day phenomenon and J.K. Rowling now has enough money to purchase a small assortment of countries. The latest book and movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” have performed as expected and raked in more cash, although once again, we’re left with a somewhat lackluster video game effort.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

  • Conclusion: Again, I like what EA has done here. I think they have put their development team to work and asked for something that is better than The Order of the Phoenix. What EA has delivered is definitely an improvement, but it still needs a lot more work to make it solid. This game is a lot better than many movie licensed games (see Judge Dread for details).

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Fragland
30 June 2012
