Summary: I was able to play guitar hero for a month or so and then it died. I replaced batteries, and it stayed dead. No usb charger. So I have a game that I can't really play and was really excited about. I think maybe wireless controllers aren't so awesome.
Summary: My first exposure to instrument playing games was Rock Band 2, so that is what I am used to. This was my first Guitar Hero purchase. I think the game playing layout on Rock Band is better than Guitar Hero. Note multiplying factor, differentiating energy strings, hammer on notes, and just note shape in general (bars vs. circles) is better represented in Rock band. I play the games on a PS3 in my home theater on a 92" screen with 5.1 surround sound.
Summary: The only reason to get this game is if there are just some tracks you can't do without. Aside from that, there isn't much new or improved to really set it apart from its immediate predecessors. I would recommend either III or World Tour instead of this. I'm keeping mine because I need it to play Stone Temple's "Plush" (a DLC tune).
Summary: I am a huge fan of this franchise, so when this game came out, I had to have it. Prior to actually playing the game, I had only seen partial notes on what the setlist would be, and what I saw was fair, but now that I have played the game enough, I find most of the tracks unknown to me from bands that I don't know, or less than popular tracks from the bands I do know.
Summary: I was disappointed in the Artist on the game. Yes it is 80 something different artist but over half I have never heard of and the ones I have heard of it is not that stars best song. Overall it is rather lame.
Summary: Why I bought it... Because of the free GH: Van Halen offer. Had it not have had that I would have just waited until the price dropped To me the setlist is bad and I figured GH:Mix would do the same thing the others did. I didn't think it would be any better than Guitar Hero World Tour GH:WT and definitely not as good as GH Metallica GH:M. I was right, again the song list had the worst choice of songs with the exception of 3 Doors Down, Iron, Maiden, and Bon Jovi.
Summary: Having played the Guitar Hero series since the first one in 2005. For me the series hit it's peak creatively and musically with Guitar Hero 3. Saying that Guitar Hero 5 is an okay game their are some good song's and the gameplay has remained mainly the same. Guest musicians such as Kurt Cobain and Johnny Cash are also available to be unlocked through the career mode which is a nice touch.
