Excerpt: Last year I said FIFA 09 was the best FIFA ever created. Now, 12 months on, that statement is untrue, because FIFA 10 is even better. For a while now I've been wondering how EA Canada would better FIFA 09. The game engine it's built on, one that's put PES into the shade since the release of FIFA 07, feels at its peak.
Conclusion: For now though, we’ll confidently stick our neck out and say that FIFA is well worth a punt. Not only is FIFA 10 the best EA has ever produced, it’s also one of the best football games we’ve played, period. It’s not without its niggles, but setting these aside, FIFA 10 does just about everything else exactly right.
Excerpt: Did anyone else see this coming: another year, another FIFA game? If there is one thing we can rely on EA for, it’s to release the same game with a new digit at the end and a new hero on the cover. They do it year in and year out and still the punters buy it. They used this strategy to become a juggernaut in the industry, so no surprise that they did it again!
Excerpt: Yearly sports game often catch a lot of flak for being yearly. The pressure is placed on developers to improve upon a winning formula while maintaining a modicum of familiarity. Other titles have been hit or miss in recent years, but consistency manifests itself in FIFA Soccer 10. Actually, there is more to it than being consistent; EA Canada manages to add some innovative features and stronger controls while ironing out the many kinks from 09.
Summary: I approached " FIFA 10 " wondering just how the almost perfect football game could be improved. Undoubtedly it has with the inclusion of the new 360 degree player movement and the more realistic AI which still has room for improvement but is no more realistic than ever in addition to the improvements to the ‘Virtual Pro‘ and ‘Manager‘ modes.
Excerpt: When it comes to sports game sequels, there's a fine line between improving on iterations past and fixing what wasn't broke. EA Sports' FIFA Soccer 10 for PlayStations3 is on the right side of that line.
Conclusion: Fun, exciting and deep are three words I would use for this year's FIFA Soccer. The game brings some great new modes and a fantastic crutch for new soccer players. Novice or experts of the game will benefit from EA Sports efforts in creating an easy to use, customizable soccer environment. Not a soccer fan? You could be one after FIFA Soccer 10. I know I am.
