Far Cry 2 User Review

  • Summary: I had always heard fantastic things about the first Far Cry from a friend, and honestly wanted to try it. However, you may have noticed I'm not much of a PC player. So, I just had to wait for a sequel. Well, here I was: 2007. The trailer for Far Cry 2 came up on the E3 stage screen.

Such beautiful scenery- but annoying gameplay

smccarrick, Ebay

  • Summary: Such beautiful scenery, along with an unprecedented freedom to follow the story as you choose fit, mark this as different from the average FPS. The biggest dissappointment is the very poor character development. Some of the gameplay is also annoying- the amount of driving is a bit boggling......

Good at the time

  • Summary: Bought this after hammering 3, this seems awful in comparison missions miles apart not enough fast travel points, re-spawning enemies and insane glitches but I imagine at the time of release this would have been awesome.

Far Cry 2 - Far from it's best

paulh909, Ciao
10 May 2013
  • Excerpt: After playing the first Far cry, I would of thought Far Cry 2 would be one of the best games money can buy. The first Far Cry was outstanding, a game which I really enjoyed and was very addictive to play.
  • Pros: massive landscape to play on with great graphics .
  • Cons: Not as fun as the first .

  • Excerpt: This game begins with you landing a made up African country on the brink of civil war and the first half an hour is an interactive cut scene that sees you driving through the savanah with your guide and its clear to see the country is subject to civil unrest.

Far Cry2

Jubel, Amazon
29 October 2010
  • Summary: A long long longgggg game! It takes sooo long for you to travel from one place to another and unlike GTA where you can hop into a car anywhere, this game is mostly arid landscapes so it takes a very long time to actually find a car in the first place!

Gets a bit boring

Peter Robinson "the Pete", Amazon
8 September 2010
  • Summary: Initially I loved this game, the maps are huge and I loved going off road to find abandoned diamonds next to dead bodies in the middle of the desert. The choice of weapons is also great as is the ability to attack a mission in any way you want.

Worth A Play For Sandbox Fans

gforce2010, Dooyoo
5 July 2010
  • Excerpt: Far Cry 2 is one of the most atmospheric games available. Although it has its problems, it is worth playing even now. Although it is Far Cry 2 there is no real relationship from the first Far Cry. The atmosphere created by this game is built up by the superb sound, graphics and the incredible map.

Lock and load for Far Cry 2

grandcham..., Ciao
11 February 2010
  • Excerpt: This is supposedly the second series but I am unaware as to whether this game carries over from the first game or not. However from my understanding this is the first of the series translated onto the ps3 format.
  • Pros: Lots of weapons, intense frenetic firefights
  • Cons: Respawning of enemies, last boss could be harder

Big isn't always better

tom1clare, Dooyoo
21 January 2010
  • Excerpt: Given the sustained popularity of the first-person shoot 'em up over the last decade and the increasing move towards open world games, it was perhaps inevitable that hybrids of the two would become commonplace in their own right.
