[DLC] Fallout 3 - The Pitt

TotalPlayStation.com
10 October 2009
  • Conclusion: Make sure you use a guide for this one -- not because it's tough, but because the game-breaking bugs can seem to come out of nowhere. It's doubtful Bethesda will patch things if they haven't yet. So save early and often... or else.

[DLC] Fallout 3 - Point Lookout

TotalPlayStation.com
10 October 2009
  • Conclusion: Arguably the best of the DLC packs released, Point Lookout is different enough to seem like a proper expansion, but not so far removed as to break down the overall tone of the game. It's funny, challenging and different. Exactly what DLC should be.

[DLC] Fallout 3 - Operation Anchorage

TotalPlayStation.com
10 October 2009
  • Conclusion: If you haven't yet soured on the combat Fallout 3 has to offer, you'll find a bunch more here. No looting, no hoarding stim packs, nothing but pure, liberty-bringing action. And the action, is just fine. Y'know, if action is your thing.

[DLC] Fallout 3 - Broken Steel

TotalPlayStation.com
24 September 2009
  • Conclusion: It's rare that DLC simultaneously benefits the original game and expands upon in it a way that's satisfying for those that already finished the game, but Broken Steel does precisely that. Familiar though it may be, this DLC is an absolute must.

Fallout 3

Digital Chumps
2 November 2008
  • Conclusion: Without a doubt, this is a different take on an older title. Most people who experienced the first two Fallout titles might feel slightly betrayed by Fallout 3, but it's certainly a different type of game. While the world has no room for the top-down graphics (see WoW adjustments for more info), it still does have room for the elements that made the originals great. Fallout 3 falls short of those expectations, but conquers when it comes to those who loved Oblivion.

Review: ‘Fallout 3′ offers beauty in the apocalypse

STLtoday
29 October 2008
  • Conclusion: A few quirks can spoil the adventure. “Fallout 3″ locked up three or four times on Game Guy — thanks, Xbox 360 — and the frame rate of the console versions pales to that made for PC. Furthermore, patches of the environment can appear discolored or unresolved during battles, and the auto-save feature doesn’t work as well as it should.

Expert Review

GameSpot
28 October 2008
  • Summary: A lot of games make a big deal out of player choice, but few in recent memory offer so many intricate, meaningful ways of approaching any given situation. You fulfill or dash the spiritual hopes of an idyllic society, side with slavers or their slaves, and decide the fate of more than one city over the course of your postapocalyptic journey through the Washington, DC wasteland.
  • Pros: Freedom to explore what you want, when you want, Fantastic, intricate quests can be completed in a variety of satisfying ways, VATS combat system results in all sorts of tense and gruesome encounters, Outstanding art design makes for a desolate DC, Rewarding mixture of excitement and atmospheric exploration
  • Cons: The story and characters can feel a bit sterile, Combat feels mildly clunky, Marked aliasing and other visual blemishes

27 June 2013
