FaceBreaker Xbox 360, PS3 Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: FaceBreaker . Just roll that around your tongue for a second. It’s a great title for a boxing game, especially one that appears to be much more the cartoon-based arcade game than it does serious pugilism simulator. With a name like FaceBreaker, one would expect and demand proper crunching hits, faces that mould like putty and juicy, disgusting sound effects. FaceBreaker provides this. Unfortunately, that’s about all it provides.

FaceBreaker Review

VideoGamer.com
21 January 2009
  • Excerpt: EA has entered a new age of quality games, or so we thought. After the crushing disappointment that was Mercenaries 2 comes the uber-exciting looking FaceBreaker - a game that we can't help but liken to the Dreamcast launch game classic Ready 2 Rumble. EA no doubt intended to make an arcade boxing game that is accessible to everyone and incredibly fun to play for a laugh, but the result is a game that's so frantic and unbalanced it starts to irritate almost immediately.

Operation Sports

  • Excerpt: EA hoped that Facebreaker would be an easy to play and fun game that would launch the EA Freestyle Brand. EA did great job delivering on the former but completely forgot about the latter.
  • Pros: Art style is well done., Online options are good., Anyone can jump in and play.
  • Cons: No one will want to play long though., Gameplay modes lacking., Playing the AI sometimes feels cheap.

Facebreaker

GameTrailers
8 September 2008
  • Excerpt: With a name like “Facebreaker,” you certainly ought to know what you’re getting yourself into. EA’s bone-crushing boxing title, with its Saturday morning appeal, certainly delivers on the promise of breaking faces. Rendering your fellow opponents into unrecognizable chunks of meat is undeniably gratifying, but is there some sweetness in this science? Facebreaker’s short list of modes isn’t exactly paving the way for boxing games to follow.
