Rubbing Isn’t Racing

TotalPlayStation.com
24 October 2012
  • Conclusion: It's not a great leap forward from last year's model, but F1 2012 adds just enough to an already tight package to keep the series on top. This is a far cry from an arcade racer so only serious Formula 1 fans need apply.

F1 2012

Digital Chumps

  • Conclusion: I was impressed with the overwhelming edge of reality to be had. You definitely get the sense that this is a very tough race league featuring incredible machines that take an astonishingly high level of concentration to get around these skill testing track configs. I wasn't so impressed with the fact that this "sim" approach routinely stands in the way of a good time.

No Sharp Turns Here

Game Informer
17 September 2012
  • Conclusion: Concept: Make the game more accessible without sacrificing any of the racing goodness Graphics: The bright color palette and lighting make the visuals stand out Sound: The voiceover of your engineer is invaluable, telling you about your opponents during races and when DRS can be used Playability: Don't be afraid to play with the assist settings and turn some of them down or off completely Entertainment: Those new to the series will find a lot to like about this year's...

F1 2012

Square-Go
1 February 2012
  • Excerpt: First of all a couple of quick confessions: Number one, I am a full on, anorak wearing, fuel bleeding, corner memorising, Formula 1 fan; I can distinguish drivers from their helmets and my third word was Mansell. Number two therefore might be a surprise – I have never been able to play the sport’s games. This all springs from my one and only attempt to play a Formula 1 game.

F1 2012

Techtree
8 November 2012
  • Excerpt: After acquiring the Formula One gaming licence in 2010, Codemasters has steadily gone about taking the world's most expensive racing franchise from strength to strength. I was blown away by the visuals and realism of F1 2010, even though TechTree's reviewer back then didn't share my opinion . Some of you may remember that our differences in opinion led to an awesome flame war in the comments section that raged on for several months. Ah, good times. But I digress.
  • Pros: Realistic car handling; Fantastic weather effects; Champions Mode is great fun; Gorgeous presentation.
  • Cons: Uneven difficulty; None of the major flaws from last year have been fixed.

F1 2012

Gamereactor
19 September 2012
  • Conclusion: With last year's edition of Formula 1 it was apparent that Codemasters were already forced to deal with the problem that every developer who updates a franchise annually runs into - how do you find the time and where can you innovate? Perhaps this is why the latest instalment is so keen on showing us how much has changed since the last game, and this is apparent straight away as the entire menu system, seen from a driver's perspective, is done away with.
  • Pros: + Finally a decent tutorial. + Fun game modes. + Improved driving. + Gorgeous graphics.
  • Cons: - Doesn't do much to invite new players, and still just for fans of the sport.

F1 2012 review: Looks and finally, moves like F1

CVG
17 September 2012
  • Summary: The two F1 games from Codemasters so far have been great simulations, but perhaps neglected their duty to be great videogames. Not everyone has the time to sit through full race weekends, after all, so F1 2012 offers more approachable, game-like options for play.
  • Pros: Great graphics, even on the PS3 this time, Superb new car handling model, New quick play modes work well
  • Cons: Still slightly underwhelming damage, Presentation is surprisingly dull, Twitchier handling may put some off
