Eternal Sonata (aka Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream)

Strategy Informer
6 October 2011
  • Conclusion: It’s by no means perfect and as we’ve already mentioned, the cut scenes can grate over time and the narrative often descends into complete nonsense, but we were willing to forgive these annoyances, as Eternal Sonata is clearly a labour of love for tri-Crescendo. And it shows in all of the tiny details and magical dreamlike moments that all conspire to make this the most inoffensively innocent game you’re ever likely to play.

Eternal Sonata PS3 Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: In 2007, Simon reviewed Eternal Sonata on the Xbox 360 and gave the game a mostly positive write-up, awarding it a not to be sniffed at 8/10. It’s 2009 now and with exclusives dwindling, Eternal Sonata has made its way to the PS3, complete with a few changes. The story is unique in the way that it utilises a real life musical genius. Famed Polish pianist, Fredric Chopin, is terminally ill, dying from Tuberculosis and unresponsive to the world around him.

  • Excerpt: The cry of the role-playing fan during the early stages of a new generation is always the same: “where are my RPGs?!” Unfortunately for PlayStation 3 owners, this cry oppressively hung suspended in the air for quite a long time, especially for fans of the old-school JRPG format that has sadly disappeared. Perhaps it’s even more upsetting that the first quality JRPG we receive is a year-old port of a Xbox 360 title, but hey, we’ve got good news.

Eternal Sonata (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
3 November 2008
  • Excerpt: Eternal Sonata is a mostly turn-based RPG that was created by tri-Crescendo originally for the Xbox 360 and has now been ported over to the Playstation 3 with a few added perks. Among those additions are 2 new dungeons, added cut scenes, and two new playable characters. The title follows the story of Frederic Chopin’s death, and his adventures in a dream world during his dying moments.

Eternal Sonata
