echochrome

GamersHell.com
5 July 2008
  • Excerpt: In this day and age games are all about graphics and radical gameplay; well, the latter may be more of a 90’s thing, but at least that’s what it seems like people are culling for these days. On hardware that’s capable of pushing visuals to near-lifelike quality is echochrome, a simple puzzler that uses perspective for mind-bending gameplay.

The 8th Circuit
19 June 2008
  • Excerpt: "In this world, what you see becomes the truth" Welcome to the world of EchoChrome, the trippiest game you'll ever play in your lifetime. The game fits into the puzzle genre with the gameplay involving the player needing to move his marionette from point A to point B within the time limit by using 5 special laws. Sounds relatively simple; but like most puzzle games, there's a catch.

Review: EchoChrome (PS3/PSP)

The 8th Circuit

  • Excerpt: Welcome to the world of EchoChrome, the trippiest game you'll ever play in your lifetime. The game fits into the puzzle genre with the gameplay involving the player needing to move his marionette from point A to point B within the time limit by using 5 special laws. Sounds relatively simple; but like most puzzle games, there's a catch. EchoChrome is based on the famous piece of art, "Relativity," and if the picture is confusing enough, the game's worse.

  • Excerpt: We fondly recall everybody’s favourite time travelling duo Marty McFly and Emmet ‘Doc’ Brown’s tyres squeal their way through the space time continuum at eighty eight miles an hour in Back to the Future through the late eighties and early nineties. What was so good about the movies was that, amongst other things, the plot was simple enough to be understood by minors, yet at the same time clever enough to be appreciated by the more intelligent cinema-goer.

Echochrome (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
4 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Echochrome is a game created by Sony’s Japan studio for the PS3 through the PSN and on UMD on the PSP. The game itself is based off the idea of perception. The goal of any given level is to guide your character (a white stick figure-like being that kind of looks like models artists use to draw human proportions correctly) to gather, for lack of a better word, several echoes of himself that are located in various places around the puzzle.

Truly Mind-Bending

TotalPlayStation.com
11 May 2008
  • Excerpt: It sounds like such an obvious concept: what you see is what you get. Leave it up to an ultra-simplistic, M.C. Escher-inspired look to sell the idea in such a way as to make it immediately understandable, but like many of the Dutch artist's mind-bending works, the longer you look, the more complex things actually become. world; complete cover up a white jump pad or a black hole or even a chasm with something and it no longer exists.
