Dragon Age's Expanding Epic

GIN
27 November 2010
  • Excerpt: The Dragon Age series is known for a lot of things: amazing character depth, a complex back story, seemingly endless questing, great graphics, voice acting, and for most people - fun. But it's also known for something else: DLC. Even in the core game, there are offers made to players (from within the game) to buy new downloaded content.

Dragon Age: Origins

Playstation Illustrated
16 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Ah, Dragon Age: Origins , the latest-and-greatest, highly anticipated role playing game from Bioware, is on the shelf, available for twitchy-fingered gamers in-the-know and looking for a medieval adventure with the grand scale of Bioware's Mass Effect . I have played Origins and I can happily report that it is everything gamers have been hoping it would be... or at least, it is for the most part.

Dragon Age: Origins

Strategy Informer
7 May 2010
  • Conclusion: Dragon Age: Origins is a well-crafted role-playing game for the consoles. The storyline is among the best for this generation making Dragon Age: Origins a must-have RPG. Once gamers meet Shale, the “Stone Prisoner” from the downloadable content, they’ll soon realize how addicting it can be to hold conversations with the characters from the world.

Dragon Age: Origins

Digital Chumps
15 November 2009
  • Conclusion: For as great as Knights of the Old Republic was in the day, Dragon Age: Origins simply trumps it. I'm a Star Wars fan, so I can give you a good evaluation of the comparison. Dragon Age: Origins is one of the best games that Bioware has produced. It's an improved system over KOTOR and Mass Effect, plus it mixes in a great story and insane depth to give you one of the more unrivaled gaming experiences of this generation.

Dragon Age: Origins

AV Club
9 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Your character’s journey through the world of Dragon Age: Origins is a bloody one. Battles and cutscenes are filled with spurting gore, and the trail your party takes along the world map is colored by sanguinary splatters. But the gratuitous pools of red your enemies leave on the battlefield helps paint the bigger picture: Whether you’re fighting ravening monsters or desperate refugees hoping to kill you for coin, everything bleeds, and everything dies.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
4 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Admittedly, when I first sampled Dragon Age months ago during an Electronic Arts press-tour here in New York City, I was underwhelmed. After all, it's kind of hard to fall in love with an RPG game in 20 minutes, especially since you have no idea what's going on, and since these preview builds often throw you many hours into the game. But of course all of that changed once I got a copy of Dragon Age last week and spent a whole bunch of time with it.
