DJ Hero 2 (PS3)

ccgr.org
24 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I thoroughly enjoyed DJ Hero and I was saddened to hear that the game didn’t sell as well as they hoped it would. Thankfully, they released a sequel and listened to some of the criticisms from the gamers this time around. I’m also happy to get more use out of my plastic turntable (which is required for playing the title). If you missed out on the turntable from the last game, you can still buy DJ Hero 2 with or without it.
  • Pros: Slicker Interface; DJ Battles add a nice touch; more room for song personalization.
  • Cons: While the track list is decent I liked the DJ Hero set list better.

DJ Hero 2

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: I don't consider myself much of the "club" type, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't fantasize about being behind the turntables at a bumping nightclub because of DJ Hero 2 . Since last year's breakout hit, I have been itching (and scratching) to get back behind the deck for more megamixes. With DJ Hero 2 , I know that I can have an awesome club experience at home without the guilt or shame of late night drinking ruining my fun afterwards.

DJ Hero 2 Review

  • Excerpt: Rhythm games are older than most people seem to think. I've had a love affair with hitting notes to music ever since I learnt kicking and punching was all in the mind back in the late 90s. Parappa the Rapper might have been my first exposure to the genre, but afterwards I've gone on to enjoy the DDRs, DJ Portable MAXs and, yes, Rock Bands and Guitar Heroes of the world.

  • Conclusion: In every way, DJ Hero 2 is an exceptional successor, and a great rhythm game for this year. If every sequel could improve as much as this one has, in as little time, the game industry as a whole would be producing triple-A games so regularly that it would be commonplace. And we’d love it.

ME Gamers

  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Developers have realized that music and rhythm games mean big business. There’s no great joy than listening to your favorite song while strumming away on a plastic guitar or finding your mojo on a set of colored drums. Or you may be gyrating in front of your TV to Lady Gaga – whatever your guilty pleasure, there is no denying that there is plenty of fun to be had with most games in this genre.

We've Got Two Turntables And A Microphone

  • Excerpt: When I reviewed the original DJ Hero last year, I didn't expect it to be on my top five list. The game just took me by surprise and turned out to be quite enjoyable, not to mentioning conjuring up some impressive mashups out of some songs which I didn't even like by themselves. Needless to say DJ Hero 2 carries on that formula, but this year the concentration is on freestyle gameplay.
