  • Summary: How is it possible that we're already into our fourth iteration of the Dead to Rights franchise? This is a series that started in 2002 with a middling Xbox and PlayStation 2 game. From there we got a much-maligned sequel and a mediocre PlayStation Portable game.

PS3/X360 Review - 'Dead to Rights: Retribution'

WorthPlaying
7 May 2010
  • Summary: Dead to Rights: Retribution is a 3rd person action game, rich in story, character and brutal combat. The game follows vice cop Jack Slate and his canine companion Shadow as they fight to expose the shadowy figures of Grant City and bring order back to the crumbling metropolis.

While it sometimes feels as rough as a Grant City alley, Dead to Rights: Retribution's vigorous combat system and brutal energy make it an entertaining tale of corruption and vengeance.

  • Summary: When you're a cop in the gang-infested metropolis of Grant City, you need to know a thing or two about violence. And when you start to unravel a conspiracy that exponentially increases the number of people that want to kill you, you'd better be ready to get your hands bloody.
  • Pros: Great array of hand-to-hand combat maneuvers, Brutal takedowns from man and beast, Good momentum punctuated by some nice story moments
  • Cons: Animation issues lead to clipping and missed hits, Visuals are murky, character models seem inconsistent

Game Informer
27 April 2010
  • Conclusion: Concept: Jumpstart a stalled series with an energetic mix of old and new gameplay elements Graphics: The presentation is solid, with some surprisingly great shading effects Sound: Gunplay sounds great, and you’ll wince at every bone-snapping melee attack Playability: It’s a snap to target enemies,...

Dead to Rights: Retribution

  • Summary: Like a B-grade action film, where violence and over the top action and acting are the order of the day. It has its moments but wonky controls drop it back to the middle of the pack.
