Dead to Rights: Retribution

Strategy Informer
21 August 2010
  • Conclusion: And it isn't as if I'm above a healthy dose of blood, gore and basic action. The aforementioned Yakuza remains one of my favourite series, I adore Gears, and I enjoyed playing through the likes of WET and Stranglehold. But at their very worst, those titles at least provide a backdrop and a sliver of context to compliment their average mechanics, whereas Dead to Rights simply coats the environment in red and its characters in force-fed grime and loathability.

Dead to Rights: Retribution

Defunct Games
16 June 2010
  • Summary: Dead to Rights: Retribution doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; instead it's perfectly fine wallowing in the franchise's past successes. With disappointing visuals, a lame story and an endlessly dreary backdrop, there's very little to like about this fourth Dead to Rights game. If Namco doesn't reboot this franchise soon Jack and his dog Shadow may become completely irrelevant. Perhaps we're already too late! This product was submitted by the publisher for review.

Dead to Rights: Retribution

  • Excerpt: In an era of reboots, reimagining, and remakes, it wasn't at all a surprise when it was announced that Namco Bandai Games was dipping into their back catalog and pulling up Dead to Rights. While the original wasn't met with critical acclaim, it found a fair amount of success regardless, garnering a loyal enough following to justify a sequel and two versions for handheld platformers.

Dead To Rights: Retribution - GAC Pack DLC

Digital Chumps
4 June 2010
  • Conclusion: If you played through and enjoyed the original campaign, this is a worthwhile pick up, but be advised it's a brief ride unless you keep playing Riot Control. If we see further DLC for this game, I just hope it's a more significant addition to the campaign.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
17 May 2010
  • Excerpt: I guess I need to always remind myself that no matter how far into a generation we get mediocrity will continue to live on. What am I getting at? Well, as you can already guess, I'm calling Dead to Rights Retribution a mediocre game, and that's simply the truth. When the first game came out years ago, it was received fairly well and it signaled the start of a new and potentially important franchise for Namco.

Dead to Rights: Retribution Review

PlayStation Universe
23 April 2010
  • Summary: A pick up, put down, trashy game that has elements of Max Payne and Double Dragon running through its violent veins.
  • Pros: Nut kicking, Slo-mo nut kicking, The ample selection of brutal combos and deeply satisfying take-downs
  • Cons: Taking cover when we are specifically trying to run, The frustrating camera angles

Dead to Rights: Retribution review

Gameplanet
6 May 2010
  • Excerpt: The latest Dead to Rights release isn't about to set the world on fire, but it does have some enjoyable attributes. If you can stick with it for long enough, you might just grow to like it.
  • Pros: Playing as Shadow is genuinely interesting. There's plenty of gore and the weapons are fun to use.
  • Cons: Boring level design. The lighting can be a bit confusing, and overall it lacks innovation.

Dead to Rights: Retribution

Fragland
30 June 2012
