Summary: This game is a button masher with an elementary leveling system and basic platforming puzzles. The game is wide but shallow, as if the developers decided to move on to different aspects of the game without finishing the aspect there were currently working on. I had high hopes for this based on reviews but I'll be returning it soon. The game looks and sounds good, but the gameplay quality just isn't there for me.
Summary: Expansive semi-open world adventures aren't really the most common thing on the Wii U, and Darksiders 2 is one of the earliest available options for fans of the genre to get their fix. It's fitting that this game came to a Nintendo console, because the gameplay structure is very obviously based on The Legend of Zelda: you brave dungeons in search of keys, a dungeon map, and a new item, with a boss encounter in the end.
Summary: In Darksiders 2, you take the role of Death, who bears a striking resemblance to Skeletor. Here, Death tries to resurrect mankind after the events of the previous Darksiders. Instead of simply repeating the structure of the original Darksiders, it appears the creators of Darksiders 2 made an attempt to veer away from the Zelda format into a slightly more RPG and dungeon-crawler-eque direction meaning that each enemy drops loot and random clothing items for your character...
Summary: After playing Darksiders, I was excited to see that there would be a sequel; however upon playing Darksiders II I realized the Developers had no idea why Darksiders was a good game. Throwing various RPG elements such as Generic Equipment, Nonsensical Character Stats, and Item Crafting really bog the game down in tedious hours of selecting the "best" weapon for this section or stopping a boss battle to change equipment.
an improvement over its predecessor, yet still has its share of problems

Summary: I give developer Vigil a lot of credit for not resting on its laurels when they began to work on Darksiders II. Despite the issues that I had with the first Darksiders, I enjoyed playing the first game and was able to see the potential in both the franchise and the developer. Darksiders II is an overall improvement over the original Darksiders, but in the process of evolving itself, it creates an entirely new set of issues.
