Dark Sector PS3 Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Sometimes it’s the simple things in a game that can give players an immense level of enjoyment, often over other aspects. Take Dark Sector as an example, or more specifically its primary weapon the glaive, which is all sorts of fun to use. The star of Dark Sector may very well be the deadly glaive, but at least a modicum of credit must go to its wielder Hayden Tenno, who gains the weapon, after being infected with a virus (good on you mate).

Dark Sector Review

PlayStation Universe
8 April 2009
  • Summary: Dark Sector adds a nice element of play to the current market of third-person shooters that are becoming stale with repetitive gunplay. The glaive is a great addition into the genre and will help keep things interesting throughout your playing experience.
  • Pros: Glaive is solid, Fantastic Visuals, Solid voice acting
  • Cons: Slight visual tearing, Enemy AI is skitzy

Dark Sector

impulsegamer
1 October 2008
  • Excerpt: Dark Sector may be the sleeper hit of 2008 and is the creation of Digital Extremes, the developers responsible for Unreal Tournament. Featuring a storyline steeped in science fiction mythos, the tale of Dark Sector is quite sinister at times and actually suits the genre perfectly as it engrosses you into this interesting mystery.

Dark Sector

Playstation Illustrated
28 September 2008
  • Excerpt: Dark Sector can easily be seen as a generic shooter with a gimmick (the blade weapon), but it has enough added mechanics to make it stand on its own, even if just a little. Besides the generally overly-shadowed environments, the game is visually stunning. The first chapter, the Prolog, is all in gray scale and looks just beautiful.

Dark Sector

Auracore MediaWorks
22 September 2008
  • Summary: Dark Sector has finally come to the next-gen consoles in all of its visceral, glaive swinging glory.
  • Pros: The Glaive is a blast to use; highly visceral combat; enemy designs are both intruiging and disgusting; boss fights are pretty much pure awesome.
  • Cons: Dialogue can barely be understood during cutscenes; story is somewhat incoherent; many cheap deaths to be had here; upgrade system feels superflous.

  • Excerpt: Dark Sector smacks of familiarity as it peels key gameplay elements from several top-tier 3rd-person shooters like Gears of War, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavenly Sword et al. But it's not just imitation flattery, Dark Sector utilizes familiar elements in cleverly blended ways and does itself proud in the process.

Dark Sector (Xbox 360)

The Review Busters
23 April 2008
  • Conclusion: With first-person shooters leading the way in both sales and gameplay Dark Sector is a nice change in pace. Dark Sector might not be the best third-person shooter on the market today, but it does try real hard. The story is deep to a point and you should be able find enjoyment with the online mode. In the end I think you should give this game a try, however a rental or a bargain price should be good enough.

Dark Sector

ME Gamers
20 April 2008
  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Digital Extreme’s Dark Sector is one of the first games scheduled to be released on the next generation of gaming platforms in 2004, but it didn’t see the day light until four years later than the promised street time. Over the course of these years it has gone through major changes, because the developers have seen so many innovations in the gameplay, graphics and story put into other games within the same genre and style, it was obvious...
