Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition
13 February 2010
Excerpt: Poorly acted live-action cutscenes, blatant CGI scenery and female officers in revealing, ill-fitting uniforms.... Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you. That isn't to say that it isn't a good game, because it is; but if you go into it expecting anything other than a fun, campy B-movie experience, you'll give up before the first FMV ends. The in-game unit models and maps look great.
Summary: Parents need to know that while this game has some violence and animated blood, this "Teen"-rated game is not very graphic compared to most other PC and console strategy games. Why? It's played primarily from an eagle's eye view (not to mention the action takes place more between units, such as vehicles, than people). Also, several of the fighting units in this over-the-top sci-fi tale are units such as sonic dolphins and fighting bears.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Ultimate Edition Review
2 November 2009
Excerpt: Is Red Alert 3 on PS3 the "ultimate console RTS experience", as EA has claimed? Does it have better graphics and improved performance compared with the PC and Xbox 360 versions? Does it take "full advantage" of Blu-ray? Now that the game's out, some six months after it was released on the PC and Xbox 360, it's time to put those lofty claims to the test. But first a refresher: RA3 is the sequel to the much-loved PC RTS RA2, released eight years ago.
Excerpt: Fans of the Red Alert series will not be one bit surprised with the items on this list, it’s what we have come to love and expect from Red Alert games. In continuing with this tradition Red Alert 3 is a game that doesn’t try to be politically correct, doesn’t take itself seriously and is overflowing with cheesy goodness.
Summary: Where else but in the Red Alert universe could you pit transforming mechs against bears, or decide the fate of your mission by attacking floating fortresses with intelligent dolphins outfitted with sonic disruptors? Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 doesn't take itself seriously, but that's what makes it fun to play.
Pros: Story and cutscenes are wonderfully corny, Fully cooperative campaign gives standard missions new life, Each faction is fun to play thanks to cool, balanced units, Vibrant production values
Cons: Pathfinding issues, No co-op matchmaking, "New and exclusive" content that isn't new or exclusive
Excerpt: Command and Conquer's zany younger brother has returned for another go in the real-time strategy arena. The Red Alert series has long been a favorite of strategy fans thanks to a heady mix of strange story and even stranger units. This newest installment has plenty of both. Red Alert 3 once again plumbs the depths of speculative fiction.
Review: Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Ultimate Edition

Pros: Real-life cutscènes, Lange speelduur, Strategy werkt wél op consoles…
Cons: Graphics kunnen beter, Enkel 2 online modi, …maar werkt beter op de PC
