Call of Duty 3 Review

PlayStation Universe
8 April 2009
  • Summary: A great but not perfect entry in the Call of Duty series.
  • Pros: Solid controls, immersive storyline, and advanced A.I., The developers did a remarkable job in the audio department., Notable texturing, particle effects, and smooth animations in the way of graphics.
  • Cons: Nonexistence of online leaderboards., The game doesn't really break any new ground.

  • Conclusion: While I have mixed feelings about WWII games I have become a fan of the Call of Duty franchise. It handles the war with the correct amount of weight and presents a realistic enough atmosphere that it could almost be a first person documentary.

  • Excerpt: Another interactive re-telling of WWII combat that oozes grief and conveys a palpable sense of empathy for ordinary men in extraordinary situations. Same old great stuff on different new game systems. Duty Calls. Again.

  • Conclusion: While Call of Duty 3 is a fun game to play it suffers from an assortment of issues and bugs. Even the online multiplayer isn’t as compelling on the PS3 as it is on the Xbox 360. For one thing, there’s no voice chat option. If you’re looking for one game to show off your new PS3, this isn’t it.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: First-person shooters need to be stunning to be highly recommended in a crowded market these days, and while Call of Duty 3 is stunning at first, it's unremarkable on the whole. Nonetheless, it's an impressive shooter and essential for all WWII game fans, including owners of COD2.
