Summary: I agree with everything GI said about the combat of this game. I had a good time with it, I really did. The characters lack depth entirely though, and the story is well, meh. It's not very capturing and you'll find yourself in beautiful environments, but forget why you're even there. The torture executions were badass, and the combos were nicely blended together. Like I said, the combat was over the top outstanding. By the story failed to interest me.
An intense action game that continually tops itself
8 September 2012
Conclusion: Bayonetta is a great action game. It's better than Devil May Cry and Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden. The difficulty level on Normal is more fair than either of those games, too. But the game is still challenging, and mostly enjoyably so. There was never a point in the game where I felt I was in an impossible situation.
Pros: This game has incredible graphics and highly creative art design. The characters, enemies, weapons, and items are all lavishly designed.
Summary: I liked this game. In no way did I ever feel like it was the second coming of "Devil May Cry", and it pales in comparison to the level of polish that "God of War 3" sports (most games do), but it was really enjoyable, if only because it was so gosh darned weird (I compare it to DMC and GOW because it is a similar, action-based game).
Summary: I've experienced some outrageous moments in video games. I've ridden rockets like a skateboard through the sky. I've thrown down with a giant Armadillo made of lava. I thought I had seen and done it all, but then I played Bayonetta. All ridiculous happenings aside, Bayonetta has a surprisingly decent story with an almost good plot and nearly interesting characters.
Summary: I read several user reviews before I purchased this game. They all seemed to agree that the story of this game was not its strong point, nor did the game claim that it was. It's clear that this game does not take itself overly serious. The game is filled with innuendo and double entendres. Sexy is the only way to describe the main character. That being said, the combat mechanics of this game are quite good with a very functional lock on system.
Summary: I'm not an intense gamer and I actually got back into playing video games after my boyfriend bought me a PS3. This was the first game that I had played in a long time and, to me, it was a really good first game to play. The controls were semi-easy, the graphics were amazing (even on a tube tv), the plot was intriguing. Everything a game should be, this was. I'm certainly not the expert, but I know I got my money's worth with this one. I loved that it was so long too.
