Bayonetta: Adventures in ludicrousness, fan service and over-the-top fun.

ablegamers.com
5 February 2010
  • Excerpt: This title we have here is directed by Hideki Kamiya the creator of “Devil May Cry” and has many similarities to the series. Bayonetta falls into the category of action based games and certainly has plenty of action to around. With the addition of a few options this game is probably one of the most accessible mainstream console games of 2010 even with only the first month having come to pass.

The Shadow Remains Cast

TotalPlayStation.com
3 February 2010
  • Conclusion: This is not the purest version of Bayonetta . It is a massively improved take on the 360 version, however, and given the option between "only" getting to play this game and missing out entirely, there's really only one option: BUY. IT.

Bayonetta Review

GamerNode
23 January 2010
  • Excerpt: Many gamers, myself included, prefer the Devil May Cry series to the God of War series. While Kratos has more epic adventures and more violent kill moves, Dante and company provide a ultra-cool, combo-heavy experiences that just suck us in game after game. Plus it draws inspiration from The Divine Comedy, so it earns bonus points.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
13 January 2010
  • Excerpt: 'OHMIGOD, PSX Extreme has lost it!' No we haven't, so shut up and calm your trousers. It's the immediate shock of looking at the overall game score before even reading a word of our review. So we're going to get it out of the way right here, right now: Bayonetta is a flippin' awesome game for the Xbox 360, and a merely good game for the PlayStation 3. Just how awesome?

Bayonetta Review

G4
22 December 2009
  • Summary: Sega's twitch action game evokes the best elements of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden while contributing its own unique flair to the genre. Even a hackneyed storyline and awful voice acting can't keep down Bayonetta's exceptional combat system.
  • Pros: The most fluid and satisfying combat in the genre in years., High replay value., Exceptional and creative setpieces., Tough enemies that never feel cheap.
  • Cons: The final boss could cost you a controller., Awful voice acting and incoherent plot, Loaded with gratuitous (and awkward) moments of misogyny., Unintuitive moments that lead to "trial by death"

  • Excerpt: I will not lie, Bayonetta is one crazy-ass witch with a bad attitude and way too many weapons available to her.
