Assassin's Creed (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
17 June 2009
  • Excerpt: Assassin’s Creed puts you in control of Altair, a member of a group of assassins. The aim of this group is to prevent war and keep the peace by - you guessed it - assassinating people. But Altair is not a happy camper and he is very much a loose cannon. Very soon into the game Altair makes a mistake which undermines the mission he is on, resulting in the death of a fellow assassin and potentially threatens to destroy their secret society.

Assassin's Creed

HDR
3 February 2009
  • Conclusion: Assassin’s Creed is innovative, pretty and provides plenty of fun during the Crusades. In that nuts-and-bolts sense, it lives up to expectations. But as a finished and complete product, the actual combat and confusing story keep this game from assassinating the competition.
  • Pros: Innovative in a stale genre, Gorgeous visuals, Living, reacting "sandbox" environment
  • Cons: Combat system needs tweaking, Story is mostly confusing and unenjoyable

Assassin's Creed Review

VideoGamer.com
25 January 2009
  • Excerpt: It's been a huge year for video games, and we've got more to come. Sadly they can't all be masterpieces, with many coming in under par or simply being good games that don't quite live up to expectations. Assassin's Creed is a good game, a game that I'd recommended everyone with a next-gen console experiences, but it's not the magnificent experience I and many others hoped it would be.

Assassin’s Creed

Break it Down
16 November 2008
  • Excerpt: Summary [8 out of 10] Assassin’s Creed, if played right, is fantastic. The epic story (dual-intertwined story arcs), flawless animations, excellent voice acting, striking environments and generally excellent graphics will have you hooked if played in chunks. Trying to burn through the game end-to-end in a marathon could leave you annoyed with some the repetitive game play elements.

Assassin's Creed

Playstation Illustrated
5 September 2008
  • Excerpt: Assassin's Creed is, quite simply, an exquisite game. As Altair, the assassin ancestor, you will traverse ancient cities such as Jerusalem and Damascus, all rendered to historical perfection - at least they look as though I'd imagine they would back in the day. Cities bustle with soldiers, beggars, vendors, informants and potential targets. Vendors will call out to passers-by, hawking their wares.

Assassin's Creed

22 February 2008
  • Excerpt: The company that brought us Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is getting ready to launch their next big franchise, and it's promising some pretty juicy stuff. It's still early days with a probable 2007 release, but everyone's been salivating over Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed since E3 2006 and judging by what's been seen so far, this bad boy'll probably be the toast of 2007.
