Excerpt: Assassin’s Creed puts you in control of Altair, a member of a group of assassins. The aim of this group is to prevent war and keep the peace by - you guessed it - assassinating people. But Altair is not a happy camper and he is very much a loose cannon. Very soon into the game Altair makes a mistake which undermines the mission he is on, resulting in the death of a fellow assassin and potentially threatens to destroy their secret society.
Excerpt: It's been a huge year for video games, and we've got more to come. Sadly they can't all be masterpieces, with many coming in under par or simply being good games that don't quite live up to expectations. Assassin's Creed is a good game, a game that I'd recommended everyone with a next-gen console experiences, but it's not the magnificent experience I and many others hoped it would be.
Excerpt: Assassin's Creed is, quite simply, an exquisite game. As Altair, the assassin ancestor, you will traverse ancient cities such as Jerusalem and Damascus, all rendered to historical perfection - at least they look as though I'd imagine they would back in the day. Cities bustle with soldiers, beggars, vendors, informants and potential targets. Vendors will call out to passers-by, hawking their wares.
Excerpt: The company that brought us Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is getting ready to launch their next big franchise, and it's promising some pretty juicy stuff. It's still early days with a probable 2007 release, but everyone's been salivating over Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed since E3 2006 and judging by what's been seen so far, this bad boy'll probably be the toast of 2007.
Excerpt: Though it would be easy to cite at least half a dozen high-profile counterarguments, Assassin's Creed may just be the most ambitious game to come out in 2007. Blending the sandbox adventure and the stealth action game -- the two forms perhaps most notorious for bedeviling even the most seasoned developers -- it certainly reaches for the stars.
Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is No other game on the market will impress you more visually than Assassin’s Creed. The first hour will enthrall you and the tasters of the animation and action to come will leave you hungry for more. There are some beautiful gameworlds out there, but none of them have put as much attention to detail as Ubisoft Montreal has for this innovative attempt at a next generation iconic game.
Excerpt: Who doesn't want to be a badass twelfth century assassin? In Assassin's Creed you play as Altair, a member of the Hashshashin (a real group of assassins for you history buffs). And he is the best that ever was, but he does not follow their creed very well at all, which is revealed in the very first mission you undertake as Altair.
