Summary: I love Armored Core. Have since I was a kid. It is one of the best mech games made. The only issue with these modern ones are simply that there are at times to much going on at once, which cause huge frame rate drops. Now, this game doesnt drop as bad as Armored Core 4, but it is nearly unplayable at times. It can be beaten though, and multiplayer is epic. Grant it, you will lose since the Asians have this game mastered hands down. They are gods at this game.
Summary: The basic armored core style is here but everything is just so bland. I remember playing this on the ps2 ( Not sure which exact title) but I remember it being a very well polished and good looking game. If we fast forward to now the texture quality just isnt there in for answer. When you first start out your mech is one colour. Yes one colour, no texture or shading to speak of as its just a grey blob.
Summary: The entire Armored Core series of games have always centered around large robots, infinitely customizable, and pilotable in multitudes of environments on various genres of missions. AC:For Answer definitely fits this pedigree and looks amazing. However, there are some serious flaws in this game that ruin the fun and remove this from the Must Play list of the casual gamer. 1. Camera: The camera angle is just a LITTLE too close to the player unit to be useful.
Summary: If you enjoyed armored core 4, then this will will sate your appetite, seeing as how it is pretty much an expansion. More parts, more enemies, and a big focus on things called arms forts, which appear in most missions and which are essentially moving buildings. There are really only 2-3 really memorable levels including these goliaths, but there's enough here besides the fact to satisfy the mech junkie.
Summary: What can you expect really from a heavily japenese mech based combat game? Big robots flying around and things exploding in spectacular fashion, i guess. It's not the methodical and thoughtful battles of something like mechwarrior, these are more fast and furious missle flying and laser doging kind of fights. But the environments are a little and the robots all have this feeling of sameness to them. Nothing truly outstanding or unique about any of them.
