Massive Disappointment For The Ar Series
27 October 2014
Summary: I was a huge fan of the first two Ar Tonelico games released in America. A turn-based JRPG that's all futuristic, but with crafting elements similar to Atelier Iris and a dating sim thing going on? Hell yeah. But this one? Oh no. The animations are bleh, the graphics are meh, the dialogue is pretty terrible in general as are the characters, and really, the only redeeming feature is the dating sim aspect, which is still somewhat hit and miss.
Summary: I bought this game used for $25 a few months ago and I played it for maybe a few hours. Months later, I had completely forgotten about it until I saw it as a recommendation. Do not buy it here, as it is $34, which is vastly over-priced. Track it down at Gamestop. Ar Tonelico is not by any means a great game. The graphics and story are decent, but the battles are boring, and the actual gameplay is awkward and tedious. Moving around on the screen is very linear.
Ar Tonelico Qoga - A decent RPG but you'll feel dirty afterwards

Excerpt: Ar Tonelico Qoga is the third game in Gust's Ar Tonelico series, based around a fictional world where humanity and an species of artificial lifeforms called Reyvatails (who can use magic in the form of song) on towers suspended above the planet, which is now uninhabitable. As with the second game, knowledge of the previous games is not necessary, though it does help with some of the gamesterminology and some of the games mechanics (though these are picked up easily).
