Summary: I purchased this product to use in conjunction with a backdrop for portable portrait setups. The kit comes with awesome travel bags, the recycle times on the lights are quick, and the fan-cooled heads let you shoot all day. As a note, these lights sync @ 1/200 of a second, and not 1/250 as others might. I like that the lights are compatible with all the Elinchrom modifiers, though I do wish reflectors were included.
Pros: Auto Dump, Digital Controls, Fan-cooled, Many accessory selections, Travel Cases
Summary: This light recharges fast and gives pretty consistent light. It's more than enough for a single person or a couple. I'd say it's power is rated well as opposed to some other cheaper lights which might be over speced. It's light enough to take with you on trips but it's build is a bit weak. If you take care of it, I'd image it would last fine. I was primarily concerned with the price and quality and it's great in this regard.
Summary: I use one D-Lite inside a Lastolite Hilite background and the other with the larger soft box attached to light my subject. I have used it mainly in a home studio and once at an outside event. Easy set up and tear down.
Summary: Nice lights, and the perform well, have nice softboxes and stands, but the lights themselves feel a little "plasti-icky". Not that it effects quality, but it doesnt give the RollsRoyce overbuilt feel.
Summary: We use the D-lites mainly for outside studio (on location) photography. For this purpose they work great, easy to travel with, fast to hook up and adds a nice documentary style touch to the workflow. The minus with this would be that they are not really built to travel with and they have a plastic feel to them, so you need to be careful out in the field.
Summary: I use this for fashion and portrait shoots. The ease of transport and reliability are top notch. The casing is very fragile and I need to be careful with product at all times. These lights are not recommended if you tend to be rough with your gear. Good output so far.
Pros: Easy to transport, Good Color Value, Powerful
Summary: With 400w and proportional modeling lights, plus the great Elinchrom reputation, this is perhaps the best bang for the buck in its price range. The kit is easy to assemble, though the soft boxes are a little tricky to put together.
