You get what you pay for

DChoutx, Amazon
3 January 2014
  • Summary: They're cute, and fine if you're listening in a small room, but the sound is not very good and doesn't carry well at all. We had them on the porch outside while cleaning up the yard and you couldn't hear it more than 10 steps away.

junky design, decent sound for price

amob, Amazon
8 December 2013
  • Summary: very cheap. Many pieces fell off 1 month after use. The sound is pretty decent for the price but don't expect for the shell and it's pieces to hold up very long. The metal part fell off on both of them.

Loud yes but low quality sound

cdjflyslow, Amazon
27 October 2011
  • Summary: I bought these with high hopes. they did get pretty loud for such small speakers. But the sound quality was pretty poor. Kind of like a set of headphones turned way up. Also the power switches stick out in a way that makes them very easy to turn on accidentally so you find you battery dead when you want to listen. One of my two speakers quit working the third time I used it. Gave two stars because the design is very cool and the battery life is excellent.

Had potential--too bad! See Sony SRS-M50...

W. Cook "DVDWilly", Amazon
3 June 2011
  • Summary: I ordered these to use with my ASUS Transformer tablet. The design is very clever and they appear to be fairly well made. However, they suffer from some real quality control issues. When I received them the Right channel unit was dead. Plugged it into the other plug on the cord--Nope! Not the cord--the speaker itself.

Great while they last

Joe Tye "CEO and Head Coach, Values Coach Inc.", Amazon
26 June 2010
  • Summary: This is my third set of X-Mini Speakers - I also purchased one black "egg" pair and a set of X-Mini II speakers, which I link together for very good sound. As a frequent traveler, this combination is perfect for me. Unfortunately, within several months of getting the red speakers, one of them just died. I have had no trouble with the black ones so I'm not sure if it's just coincidence of if the red ones are somehow inferior.

BUY TWO X-MINI 2's INSTEAD OF THESE!!! WORSE QUALITY

TH4RG3, Dooyoo
16 May 2011
  • Summary: I have fallen under the same trap as many people, these are called "MAX" and people ASSUME that this means it is better that the smaller and original versions. The design is better yes, but the sound quality is no where near as good as the X-Mini 2's. There is much less bass and the build quality is much poorer. As i have had both products, both my Xmini Max's have died and both my Xmini 2's are still alive and sound so much better.
  • Pros: The magnet is cool and the design is good but not worth it
  • Cons: More expensive than two X-Mini 2's which are better quallity. both have brocken,

You can't get good sound from tiny speakers

Henose Unow, Amazon
8 September 2010
  • Summary: I bought this on the strength of the positive reviews. They look nice, but great sound? No. They are no better than the £20 universal portable speakers I already have, those work with batteries or a mains adapter and sound as good. A £10 set of active PC speakers or any portable CD player would sound better. These speakers are only worth considering if you absolutely need something tiny and rechargeable and can live with the tinny sound.
